July 11th, 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Tips

Well the Champions League qualifiers tips went almost as expected ha – both lost, hence the small unit bets.

I always feel like Europe is tricky to bet on although you can find some value if you look hard enough. However the qualifiers in particular always feel like a bit of a crap shoot.

We had Celtic to win to nil but Sarajevo scored in the 29th minute. Celtic defence looks as messy as usual – it amazes me sometimes that they can run up the clean sheets like they do.

We had Cluj or Draw in their match against Astana however Astana won 1-0. Was an even enough game but Cluj couldn’t get the shots on target with 15 attempts and just 1 on target.

I’ll be honest I haven’t really been paying attention to the Africa Cup of Nations at all this year however I’ve spent a bit of time going through it all and getting caught up so I can do two tips for the games on Thursday.

So let’s get to that – it’ll be small unit plays though as my watching has been reserved for just highlights unfortunately then studying the stats.

Ivory Coast vs Algeria Betting Tips:

This quarter final clash has Algeria strong favourites to win in 90 minutes at 2.10 odds. Ivory Coast are 4.00 to win with the draw at 3.00.

In the group stages, the favourites for this match Algeria won all three of their games in solid performances. 2-0 over Kenya, 1-0 over Senegal and then 3-0 over Tanzania. In the first knockout stages they beat Guinea 3-0 to continue their impressive defensive record.

Ivory Coast have also been impressive with wins over South Africa and Namibia in the group. They lost to Morocco 1-0 though which is kind of crazy when you consider Morocco lost to Benin in the knockout stages. Ivory Coast meanwhile beat Mali to go through.

The Cup of Nations has been light on goals which sees the bookies make drastic changes to the over/under market. This will be Algerias biggest test yet.

When you look at the Algeria matches where they have held clean sheets, their opponents have still been able to get the shots in. Their finishing has just been poor. I think this game could surprise the bookies and especially with the way Algeria foul, we could see a pretty damn good game with a few goals.

Madagascar vs Tunisia Betting Tips:

Madagascar won Group B with a draw against Guinea then victories over Nigeria and Burundi. They then proceeded to beat DR Congo on penalties in the knockout stages in a fun game. Despite that they are heavy underdogs here against Tunisia.

Tunisia were draw specialists in the group stages with 3 games and 3 draws against Mali, Angola and Mauritania. Against Ghana in the knockout stages they drew again before winning on penalties.

I haven’t been impressed too much with Tunisia. I think Madagascar are in with a shout.
