The U.S. hit a new daily high for coronavirus cases yesterday, but the sports plans to return are still on. The NBA bubble is filling up and that seems to be the best current plan to return. The MLB is having their growing pains and a lot of high profile players like Buster Posey are opting out, but plans remain in place for the return which is just two weeks away.
I have personally entered into a “believe it when I see it” mode. I am interested in the MLB Extra Innings package so I can watch games all day, but I am not going to sign up for that service until Opening Day and the games have begun. That’s how doubtful of this thing I am.
The good news is that other countries are doing well with this. Japan’s NPB has been a success in their return and they are gearing up to allow fans back into the stadium. While the EPL is successfully running their season in a way that the MLS could only dream of. No matter what happens, we’ll have those sports and those sports are the focus of today’s tips.
NPB Japanese Baseball Betting Tips:
Hiroshima Carp vs. Chunichi Dragons: The Dragons send the 23-year-old Akiyoshi Katsuno to the mound. He had limited innings pitched last year, but gave up a ton of contact and runs with 11 runs in 16.1 innings. He’s young and has potential, but we haven’t seen that come through yet.
Hiroshima sends Hiroki Tokoda who had an outstanding year last year with a 2.96 ERA. He had a 6.5 K/9 rate and looked like a solid piece. He’s struggled in his first two appearances this season, but he’s clearly a better pitcher of that. He’s been very unlucky with the batted ball, but I think he’ll be able to get back on track. I like the Hiroshima offense with Shota Dohbayashi and Seiya Suzuki to provide the support he needs to get the win.

EPL Betting Tips:
These matches take place on July 11th.
Norwich City vs. West Ham United: West Ham has been creating a ton of chances of late, but have really failed to capitalize on them and relegation concerns are starting to creep in. The pressure is going to be on them to get a result here. I think Norwich City has some defensive vulnerabilities that should allow West Ham to capitalize more than they have of late. Norwich is always a threat to make a mistake that will cost them the game.
This is a game where Norwich will need to be aggressive if they want to have any chance of winning. West Ham will score here and I think it’s going to take two goals to win. The even odds on West Ham win are nice, but I’m going with the over here.
Bet Norwich City/West Ham Over 2.5 (-125)
Sheffield United vs. Chelsea: This is another game where I am more interested in the goals than the outcome. Sheffield have have scored in ten of their last eleven games. While Chelsea has seen the total go over three in their their last five away games.
Sheffield United has a good defensive team, but they should give up some goals here. Chelsea has really been scoring of late and I think a 2-1 game is likely here.
