Well what a bloody mess the British Open has been today. High winds have caused mayhem with play suspended for the majority of the day. The winds are reaching as high as 40mph. Of course – play was suspended AFTER Dustin Johnsons ball blew away, causing a one stroke penalty in such a stupid rule.
Rumour we are hearing is that play will resume around 4pm local time which would be 9am EST, then play till dark. But we doubt it. Either way we’ll be seeing golf on Monday we epxect. What a mess it is though. When you have golfers yesterday playing in beautiful weather – the ideal conditions with sunshine and zero wind, and nice soft greens. Then today you have golfers playing in a hurricane. While we understand time commitments you have to get a better balance than that.
Speaking of Scotland, it’s July 18th, 2015 which means UFC Fight Night 72 will be starting very soon. It should be a fun show headlined by Michael Bisping – and it’s good that Glasgow finally has an event. Feels like such a low hyped show though – especially after the last 3 shows in one week, and then the Open of course taking up most of the media attention in Scotland.
Still should be a good one. Let’s get to todays betting tips:
UFC Fight Night 72 Betting Tips:
With the main event at even odds, we’ll be taking Michael Bisping for the win. Bisping has proven time and time again just what a solid fighter he is. And really his record is better than it looks considering the people he has lost to who were hopped up on drugs. It’s a shame Bisping will probably never get a title shot – but he’s someone who keeps chugging away and is so patient and solid, as we saw against C.B. Dolloway. We’ll take him for the win tonight.
It also seems almost a foregone conclusion that Ross Pearson wins. Pearson is just such an excellent fighter and has great defense for takedowns. Now unfortunately the odds of 4/9 are risky so we’ll double it up with Leon Edwards and Joseph Duffy to make it a bit better in value. Both of them should walk through and get a nice easy win on the card.
Finally we also think it’s worth a small flutter on Cortney Casey-Sanchez. 12/5 and while Calderwood should be favourite this is not going to be an easy fight. Casey-Sanchez is a very solid fighter who is extremely aggressive, and that may throw off Calderwood. Calderwood isn’t so skilled that this is an inevitable conclusion fight.
CFL Betting Tips:
Roughriders got another surprising loss last night. We were right on the money with the Eskimos win though. Tonight it’s the Blue Bombers vs Stampeders.
Should be a good game and we’ll take Bombers +9. A touchdown plus some points is just a bit too high on this one. Blue Bombers have been struggling but no way are they struggling at this much. They haven’t covered that spread all season and they’re certainly not doing it this weekend against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
