A 2-2 record on wrestling last night. We got the big wins with Hangman Page & Kenny Omega retaining the AEW World Tag Team Championships and Dexter Lumis getting the win on NXT.
I was really surprised that Private Party got the win over Santana & Ortiz to get a tag team title shot next week. To me, it really foreshadowed the ending of Best Friends/Omega & Page because the Best Friends just wrestled and beat them back at Double or Nothing. That’s not the way AEW does things and I think a Santana/Ortiz win would’ve made for more intrigue heading into next week’s title challenge. I guess the power of Matt Hardy is stronger than we think.
Coronavirus managed to hit AEW as well as Jon Moxley’s match with Brian Cage was delayed until two weeks from now. Moxley’s wife contracted the virus while working for WWE and while he has not contracted it himself, it is the smart move to wait until his wife is healthy and he is clear before returning to work. Not a big fan of AEW making a story out of this, like Mox is a wimp or something. I know that bad guys say bad things, but there are enough anti-maskers out there that I wouldn’t want to walk that slippery slope.
In important news about us all being able to gamble online legally, the Detroit Tigers made a deal with PointsBet for signage at their ballpark. This is the first major deal between an MLB team and a sportsbook. Let’s hope this gets us closer to normalizing sports betting and makes it legal in all fifty states.
NPB Betting Tips:
This game takes place tomorrow morning.
Chunichi Dragons at Yomiuri Giants: I am not trusting Yudai Ono whatsoever. He’s made two starts this year and given up five homeruns and twenty hits in just ten innings. His career stats show that this is a bit of an outlier, but he’s also on the older side so this could just be the new normal.
The Giants send Tomoyuki Sugano to the mound and while he’s cooled over the last couple of seasons, he hasn’t been that. I think the Giants offense is pretty dangerous and they should be able to do some damage against Ono here. They are at the top of the division and I think they stay there with another big win today.
Bet Yomiuri Giants -1.5 (-105)
Spanish La Liga Betting Tips:
Atletico Madrid vs. Mallorca: This is a very lopsided match-up with Madrid being third in the current standings while Mallorca is third from the bottom. There is a 30+ point difference between these two teams and Madrid is a -385 favorite heading into this one.
Atletico Madrid has not lost in their last eight matches and have won four out of their last six games. Mallorca is looking towards relegation and desperately needs a win to get back in the hunt, but I just don’t see Madrid allowing that. They have been too good on both sides of the field and Mallorca is simply outclassed here. Lay the points.
Bet Atletico Madrid -1.5 (+105)
