I hope you all had a great weekend. I know I did as I followed Graeme’s RBC Canadian Open golf tip from Wednesday and made a nice little profit on Dustin Johnson winning that thing. I had my doubts on Thursday, but after Friday he seemed to really get a handle on things and just shot to the top of the standings and never let up. Just a great performance from him.

The MLB trading season has been going fast and furious of late. The Yankees are the winners thus far as they’ve added both JA Happ and Zach Britton so they improved their rotation and their bullpen. The bad news is that both Gary Sanchez and Aaron Judge are on the disabled list, but I’m not about to feel sorry for the New York Yankees. Still, they look locked in to that first Wild Card and the Mariners (or Athletics) will have to face one of the best pitchers going today in Luis Severino and then the best bullpen possibly ever assembled. On the road. In a one-game playoff.

I’m a Mariners fan. I hate the Yankees.

The Brewers also made an interesting trade as they added Mike Moustakas from teh Royals to play third base. The only problem is they have Travis Shaw who has been their every day third baseman and he’s pretty good. The solution is moving Shaw to second base where he’s never played in the majors. Interesting and the kind of gamble that could pay off huge.

The hottest rumor is that the Nationals could be shopping Bryce Harper over the next two days. They lost to the Marlins yesterday to fall to 52-53 and six games back of the Phillies for the division. That would be quite the add for whoever did it and it’s scary how perfect he fits with the Astros. Stay tuned.

MLB Betting Tips:

Kind of a quiet schedule tonight without a ton of games, but there are a couple of games that I am really focusing on.

The first is the Red Sox against the Phillies. There are a lot of stats in baseball that show how good a player or team that adjust for the teams that they play or the league that they play in. All of these stats show Aaron Nola to be having a great year that’s for real, but I’m just not buying it tonight on the road against the Red Sox. This has been the best offense against righties this year and I think they can hurt Nola here.

The Phillies offense is pretty weak against left handed pitchers this year and I could see David Price putting on a vintage performance. I’m really loving the Red Sox -145 here.

My other top play of the day is Diamondbacks/Rangers Over 8.5 Runs as I can’t quite figure out why this one is so low. Martin Perez has been absolutely pounded thus far this season and he faces a hot Diamondbacks offense on the road. He’ll go against Robbie Ray who has some decent numbers, but his home numbers are ridiculously bad at 8.06 ERA/7.80 FIP. What even is that? Throw in that the Rangers hit lefties well and it’s hard not to like them here.
