A 3-0 record last night!
That brings us to 9-2 on the season. Luck has definitely played a factor in some of this, as we saw last night, but a 9-2 start is still very strong and the Bet MLB System is looking good so far.
Of course, it doesn’t take a system to say “bet Max Scherzer against a young team”. We took the Nationals against the Jays last night and Scherzer was fantastic, but so were the Jays pitchers. This game was tied 0-0 at the end of the ninth inning before the Nationals put up 4 in the top of the 10th to get the win. A little luck involved there, aided by the new rules, but a solid win.
We had nearly the exact same result in our White Sox pick over the Indians. We really liked the Sox offense to put up some numbers here and they did… in the ninth inning. Another game tied 0-0 heading into the final frame, but this one saw the Sox put up the big number in the 9th to win. Lucky? Sure, but the offense plays.
The other tip was the Rangers over the Diamondbacks. We had taken Texas because Lance Lynn looked like a top pitcher and he was just that with six shutout innings, eight strikeouts, and only one hit allowed. The Rangers had the lead, but then the bullpen blew it for them. However, the theme of the day was comebacks and the Rangers put up five runs in the bottom of the eighth to get the win.
Thursday is a typical travel day in MLB to set-up the weekend series even though, well, what’s the point? Anyway, a shorter schedule today and we have two tips.

Los Angeles Dodgers at Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Tips:
Dodgers: Ross Stripling 3.47 ERA/3.47 FIP (2019)
Diamondbacks: Robbie Ray 4.34 ERA/4.29 FIP (2019)
The Dodgers have been as good as advertised to start the season and they draw a nice match-up against the Diamondbacks here. Robbie Ray has huge strikeout stuff, but he also had a 4.34 BB/9 and a 1.55 HR/9 rate last season. The Diamondbacks’ park is offense friendly and the Dodgers are a very friendly offense. I can’t see Ray going very deep into this one and I think the Dodgers are going to put up some numbers here.
Ross Stripling was fantastic in his first start of the season against the Giants with 7IP, seven strikeouts, and only one run allowed. The Diamondbacks have been the worst offense in the league to date and while the system likes them to put up some runs here, it’s not going to be enough to beat this Dodgers team.
The system likes the over here, but it’s not taking into account what we’ve seen thus far this season so I am going to ignore that here. The Diamondbacks are just ice cold right now and the Dodgers are red hot. -150 is a gift, take it.
San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants Betting Tips:
Padres: Dinelson Lamet 4.07 ERA/3.91 FIP (2019)
Giants: Kevin Gausman 5.72 ERA/3.98 FIP (2019)
I went back and forth on including this one. The system really likes the over here, but I was struggling to see why as both of these pitchers are slightly above average. Then it hit me, average in today’s MLB means runs. The average team scored 4.83 runs per game last year and it only seems like that number will be higher once things get going.
Neither one of these pitchers is going to go deep into this game and the bullpens will take it home. We saw how that works out yesterday and I think we’ll see the same here. Especially with this strong Padres offense and Giants bullpen that ranks near the bottom of hte league thus far.
