The WNBA season is starting to get going and thus far it has been all about the Connecticut Sun. They are 8-1 on the season and looking like a lock for another playoff run. There are eight other teams between 3 and 5 wins who are likely to be battling each other the rest of the season.
In baseball, all eyes are once again on the American League East. The Yankees have had a ton of injuries this year, but their pitching has remained healthy which has kept them in first place. They currently have a 1.5 game lead on the Rays. Tampa is the first Wild Card currently with the Red Sox, Indians, Rangers and Athletics in the hunt behind them. This race is going to come down to the end of the season for sure and I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of these teams start making some big moves in the trade market.
MLB Betting Tips:
Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees: These two teams are in a season-long battle for first place in the AL East and tonight looks like a great spot for the Rays to gain some ground.
The Yankees send JA Happ to the mound for this one and he has a not great 4.66 ERA/5.37 FIP on the season. The problem for him this season has been the home starts. In Yankee Stadium he has a 5.35 ERA/6.18 FIP on the year with an awful 3 HR/9 rate. The long ball has been a big problem for him and the Rays are a dangerous offense.
This will be a bullpen game for the Rays and they’ve had one of the best bullpens in the league this season. Throw in the Yankees recent relief struggles and this is a great place to grab the Rays.
WNBA Betting Tips:
Washington Mystics at Los Angeles Sparks: Elena Delle Donne and the Washington Mystics head to LA to take on Maria Vadeeva and the Sparks tonight. Both teams sit at 4-3 on the season with nothing in their statistics jumping off the page one way or another. This has been a tight season so far and should continue to be down the stretch.
The Mystics were able to sweep the Sparks last season and that trend could continue here. Washington has been the top offensive team in the league to date while the defense of Los Angeles leaves a bit to be desired. Take the stronger offensive and defensive team here, take the points with Washington.
Copa America Betting Tips:
Brazil vs. Venezuela: Sometimes the lines just jump right off the page. Brazil is a big favorite here at -750 and the total on this one is set at three goals. That seems logical all around, but the Brazil -2 line seems really juicy as I have trouble seeing Venezuela even getting on the board here. The total might as well be Brazil’s final goal total and I believe it will be. This is a nice value laying the goals here and I think Brazil will continue to dominate this tournament.
