With most of the major leagues I follow done with until July and August, the next week will basically be picking random leagues that I don’t pay too much attention to, and then doing stats based picks from them.
Generally when that is the case I look at leagues with a lot of games played if possible or leagues that I do enjoy to a degree and will watch their games.
Then starting next week we can get the Womens World Cup underway. I’m really looking forward to that.
I’ve also been paying attention to the Canadian Premier League and watching when I can – but not enough to provide Canadian Premier League Betting Tips at this stage unfortunately.
Right let’s see what we got – going to focus on the Japan J-League here. That was a league I used to watch a fair bit of back in the day.
FC Tokyo vs Oita Trinita Betting Tips:
A big game here. FC Tokyo are at home and have a perfect home record. They’re top of the league going against a solid Oita Trinita team.
Both teams boast the tightest defences in the league, with FC Tokyo conceding just 6 goals in 13 games and Oita Trinita just 8 in 13. Interestingly neither team is really rocking it offensively. On the standings, FC Tokyo are 6th best team at goalscoring and Oita Trinita are in the bottom half.
Oita Trinita are a good away team though with the second best record in the league, behind last years champions the Kawasaki Frontale.
Both teams are coming off losses. The telling one for me is Trinita losing to Kawasaki. I like to separate teams when I do betting tips into tiers and I get the idea Triniata are a tier below the likes of FC Tokyo and Kawasaki.
I think FC Tokyo will be able to breach the Oita defense and get at least a goal here. And it’s hard to see their defence giving up anything. I like a bounce back performance after that loss to Cerezo Osaka.

Gamba Osaka vs Kashima Antlers Betting Tips:
Quite an interesting game here. Gamba Osaka are currently third bottom while Kashima Antlers are 6th in the league.
Despite that, Kashimas odds of winning are higher than a coinflip.
It’s due primarily to their away record of which they are poor. However looking at the advanced metrics for thos games I think the stats are a bit of a leap – they’re generally losing to better teams away or the top tier teams or have been unlucky. That Sagan Tosu loss for example recently was a 94th minute injury time goal in an even match where a draw would have been a fair result.
They were on a good run prior to that and I think they have what it takes despite the current form of Gamba Osaka at home. Gamba did hold FC Tokyo to a draw at home which was very impressive and they play a tight home game but I like Kashima to take it.
