Last night, Giannis Antetokounmpo won the NBA MVP and I cashed my ticket on that future. NBA Futures can be a pain to bet on as you have to wait such a long time for them to pay off, but when they win there is nothing quite that sweet. Giannis’ MVP speech was touching and it’s hard not to root for that guy. Of course, the Rockets had to try and ruin it by posting this classy tweet:
Congrats to the new MVP, but we respectfully disagree.

Cool.
We have some time before the NBA comes back or we start looking at futures. We do have some great basketball tonight with the WNBA. We also have some MLB games on the docket that my Bet MLB System loves. Let’s get into it.
MLB Betting Tips:
Texas Rangers at Detroit Tigers:
Team | Pitcher | FIP- | |
AWAY | Rangers | Jesse Chavez | 95 |
HOME | Tigers | Jordan Zimmermann | 111 |
The Rangers offense has a lot of really dangerous homerun hitters and I really like their match-up today against the Tigers. Jordan Zimmerman has a 6.03 ERA/5.14 FIP on the season with a 1.57 HR/9. I think he is going to get hit today and get hit very hard.
Texas will send Jesse Chavez who is now the team’s fifth starter. He has a 3.18 ERA/4.51 FIP between starting and relieving, but I am really not worried in this match-up. The Tigers have a 76 wRC+ against right handed pitchers on the season and their wRC+ over the past week has been just 63. That is bad, they are not good, and the Rangers should roll here.
Tampa Bay Rays at Minnesota Twins:
Team | Pitcher | FIP- | |
AWAY | Rays | Blake Snell | 76 |
HOME | Twins | Kyle Gibson | 85 |
This match-up between the pitchers is actually much closer than it looks. Kyle Gibson is having a decent season overall, but he has been great at home with a 3.16 FIP. This game is at home and he’s facing a Rays offense that is cold of late, with a 82 wRC+ over the past two weeks.
The Rays send Blake Snell who is obviously great, but his 3.29 FIP on the road isn’t really scaring me here. That’s because the Twins have been one of the absolute best teams in all of baseball against left handed pitchers this season. They have a 128 wRC+ against lefties on the season and I think they can get Snell out of there early. The two bullpens between these teams are basically a wash and this looks like a great time to grab the home team.
WNBA Betting Tips:
Seattle Storm at Las Vegas Aces: The Storm have had their injury woes this season, the key being losing Breanna Stewart, but they have still been getting things done. They draw a great match-up here as the Aces are 0-7 in the past seven games against teams with a winning record. The Storm have really dominated the Western Conference and I see them having a big performance here. For some reason, Seattle is getting big points here and I am taking them. They can win this game outright and should at least keep it close.
