The odds for the LPGA Blue Bay Classic this week were rather interesting – and have made us do a rather crazy thing.
Before we get to that – this is the first time we have to thank Amy Yang. The 30/1 managed to get a GREAT cash for us in the HanaBank Championship. Here’s that screenshot:
Thank you Amy!
Now let’s look at the actual odds for the Blue Bay Classic:
LPGA Blue Bay Classic 2015 Betting Odds:
- Lydia Ko: 2/1
- Inbee Park: 8/1
- Shanshan Feng: 11/1
- Suzann Pettersen: 12/1
- Stacy Lewis: 14/1
- Amy Yang: 18/1
- Hyo Joo Kim: 28/1
- Yani Tseng: 28/1
- Anna Nordqvist: 33/1
- Minjee Lee: 40/1
See – something weird we noticed is that NONE of the top 3 finishers last year are considered this year when it comes to the betting odds.
Those would be Lee-Anne Pace, Caroline Masson, Jessica Korda and Michelle Wie. Both Korda and Wie tied at -11 for 3rd, Masson was -13 and Pace was -16.
It’s not like it was a terrible field last year. Ko participated and came 7th. Feng participated and came 7th. Amy Yang played and came 23rd.
So it’s very weird that not one of them is considered a contender.
So what we are going to do this week is bet all FOUR of them with a quarter unit bet. Sure current form may be off – and the Blue Bay was canceled last year early due to the heavy rain – but surely one of these golfers can repeat the form from last year. Especially when both Korda and Pace had record 66 rounds. FYI the other ones where Choi and Ernst. Choi is 45/1 and Ernst is 125/1 so screw it we’re going to go with them too.
This could be the dumbest decision we’ve ever made – but with Lydia Ko at a ridiculous 2/1 that offers value elsewhere.
And here is how they have been playing lately for those curious:
Lee-Anne Pace: 6th back in Septmeber at the Evian Championship she’s made the last 4 cuts and has played some solid if unspectacular golf lately.
Caroline Masson: She’s really struggled with a lot of cuts. However she also had a 14th place at the LPGA Malaysia Tournament earlier this month. She couldn’t break par at the Taiwan Championship, and her last top 10 finish was at the HSBC Womens Championship back in March.
Jessica Korda: The #28th Rolex Ranked American recently won the LPGA Malaysia. After a bad run in the Summer her game has gotten better ands he just finished tied for 14th at the difficult Taiwan Championship last week. Very odd to see her odds so low.
Michelle Wie: While nothing groundbreaking she has 2 Top 20 finishes in her last 4 tournaments, and a nice 11th place at the difficult U.S. Womens Open.
Chella Choi: Has made the last 5 cuts including a top 10 finish at the HanaBank Championship.
Austin Ernst: It wasn’t too long ago she came tied for 2nd at the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic, and before that she was 5th at the Portland Classic. Ernst always has the ability to be among the top golfers on the LPGA tour.
Like we said – this could be rather crazy and it’s very possible we go 0/6. But when we looked at course form and rewatched the tournament, and how these ladies played in the difficult conditions we thought – yep our work is easy for us this week.
