1-2 last night.
It’s a weird world when the favorite that comes through for you is the Celtics without Kyrie Irving and Marcus Smart. The Celtics won on the road by 9 without those guys and did it easily, holding the Magic to just 83 points.
The Raptors were a loss for us last night against the Mavs. We laid big points, -10, and they only managed to win by seven in overtime. This was clearly a case of underestimating your opponent as they were down 60-54 heading into the half and had to storm back. Once they locked down, the Mavericks were helpless against them.
The Clippers +4.5 lost to the Thunder by 8. This one was so close. Down six, Austin Rivers grabbed a steal with 33 seconds left and the cover was within range. Then DeAndre Jordan threw the ball away and that was all she wrote. Tough.
On to the next one and today’s slate looks far more promising. Let’s get into the tips included our top tip of the weekend.
Sacramento Kings vs. Utah Jazz Betting Tips:
This will be the fifth game in seven days for the Kings, their third in four and the second half of a back to back. That’s about as good as it gets for schedule alert games and the Kings aren’t really a team that we expect to get up for that. They are lottery bound for sure and their motivation will be in getting back home.
My favorite thing about this play? The Utah Jazz. This team has won 8 in a row and 20 of their last 22 games. They have the elite of the elite defense in the NBA and they should feast on this Kings team. I really don’t care that this line is Jazz -14. This is my play of the weekend. Rudy Gobert has been so valuable in the games he’s played that despite his low amount of games played I could easily see him winning Defensive Player of the Year. He’s just been that impactful and is a big part of why this team went from out of the playoffs to a near guarantee to make them.
Detroit Pistons vs. Portland Trailblazers Betting Tips:
We’re getting real chalky tonight as our second pick is the Blazers -9 at home against the Pistons. The Pistons are a mess. Just 5-14 against in the spread in the second half of the season and 9-24 straight up on the road. This is one of the worst road teams in the league this season and they are playing against one of the hottest teams in basketball. I don’t see this ending well for them.
The Blazers have won 11 straight heading into this one and Damian Lillard is just on another level right now. I don’t see the Pistons having the guards to stop him or CJ McCollum and their front court hasn’t been as scary as we all thought it would be after the Blake Griffin trade. This Pistons team is sadly just not that good and they don’t have a real road to improvement. Blazers should roll tonight.
