An 0-1 record with a push last night.
That push was something. The Spurs and Rockets were tied heading into the fourth quarter and we had to feel mostly positive about this one coming through for us. James Harden had other ideas though. The guy finished with 61 points and carried his team to the win over the Spurs. He had 27 points in the first quarter, that’s just crazy. Sometimes a team just says “let him beat us, we’ll take our chances”, but Harden is not the guy to do that with.
The Heat were our loss and they absolutely laid down and died in this one. It was 32-33 at the end of one quarter, but then the Bucks pulled away and locked them down. The Heat only managed 36 points in the second half. I should’ve known better than to be down on the Bucks. The best teams are the best teams for a reason, even when the injury bug isn’t going their way.
Tonight is a weird slate as there a lot of game I “like, but”. I like the Blazers over the Pistons, but C.J. McCollum isn’t playing. I like the Grizzlies, but no Mike Conley. I like the Heat over the Wizards, but this is the Heat’s third game in four and second of a back-to-back. I like the Warriors, but the line is huge and no Stephen Curry. Also, the Warriors have been maddening as a favorite this year. Just not a lot here that I am loving tonight.
Well, except this one. I do like this one.
Boston Celtics vs. Charlotte Hornets Betting Tips:
The Hornets just aren’t that good. They are 14-19 against the spread and 9-25 (!) as an underdog this season. Charlotte has really stumbled in this second half of the season with a 8-13 record which has pretty much killed their slim playoff hopes. This team is still playing, but it would be best for them to lose at this point to improve their draft odds. This team needs all the help it can get right now.
The Celtics have dropped their last two, but overall they have been playing much better of late. Those were tough games against Denver and Philadelphia and no one can fault them for losing them. I’ve never used this stat before, but it really jumped off the page to me.
After Failing To Cover 3 Of Their Last 4 Against The Spread: 14-6
After Failing To Cover 4 Or 5 Of Their Last 6 Against The Spread: 12-6
Sure. That sounds about right. The Celtics need this win and the Hornets really don’t. Kyrie Irving should be motivated to put up a good game as he goes against Kemba Walker here. That match-up is pretty close to even, but the roster of the rosters aren’t even close. Boston is fighting with the Pacers for home court in the first round and I believe they really want it. Boston is one of the best home court advantages in the league and that can be the difference between moving on and not. Boston wins tonight.
