Last night we saw both the NHL and NBA put one team in the Finals. The Golden State Warriors made their sweep of the Western Conference complete and now await the Cleveland Cavaliers winner of the Cavs and Celtics series. It’s a bit sad how that series against the Spurs worked out with the injury to Kawhi Leonard, but I don’t think anyone ever gave them a real chance. The Warriors in the Finals was inevitable.
In hockey we saw the Nashville Predators take game six at home to lock up their first ever appearance in the Stanley Cup. Two very different teams and stories, but the same result: a shot at the championship. Nashville has been very impressive in these playoffs and to do it last night without Johansen was very impressive.
We could see the other spot in the Stanley Cup finals locked up tonight as the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators head to game six. The Penguins took a 3-2 after a monster 7-1 win this weekend and now look to close things out and go for their second straight Stanely Cup win. The Sens have been resilient throughout the playoffs and the home crowd should be in their favor here. This should be a good one.
The Cavs should probably be closing things out tonight, but thanks to a great defensive performance from the Celtics and one of LeBron James’ worst ever games they now only hold a 2-1 lead. That will probably be the outlier game of the playoffs as the Cavs are favored by -15 tonight and should finish this in five.
NHL Playoffs Betting Tips:
Pittsburgh comes into tonight as a road favorite and why not? They absolutely dominated the last game and have won two straight. They are the defending champions and hungry for another while Ottawa has never quite felt like they belong here. The thing with the Senators though is they are here. They have gotten it done and they have come back from tough losses throughout the playoffs. This could be their last stand and I am expecting them to come out swinging. Ottawa +127 is a great line for a home team in an elimination time. I’m on it.
NBA Playoffs Betting Tips:
Tonight should be a big one for LeBron James. I can’t imagine him playing like he did in game three again in this round and I think the Cavaliers are going to roll here. They should be pissed at themselves and at how that game went. We saw this last year in the Conference Finals as well. They got a little too comfortable winning all the time and then they fixed the issue. That’s what is happening here. I am not touching that -15 line though. What I’m interested in is the over 216 line. Every game has been at or above that number and I think that will continue tonight. These teams play at a fast pace, Cleveland leaks points and scores in gobs. Over feels like the play.
