Well unfortunately our Both Teams to Score bet was a bust in the Berlin match as Hertha ran out 4-0 winners. I thought we’d see a different style of play from Union following their Bayern loss but they were godawful. Couldn’t even get a shot on target and I think we’re going to see them struggle over the next little while.
There is three games taking place in the Bundesliga on Sunday, May 24th. Might as well run through all of them. Even if I don’t have tips for a particular game it’s good for me to analyze them publicly either way as it’ll help me going forward.
As a reminder we also have games on Tuesday and Wednesday so it’s a nice busy time for me.
May 24th, 2020 Bundesliga Betting Tips:
Schalke vs Augsburg: Schalke are 2.00 favourites here. They got thumped by Dortmund 4-0 in their return while Augsburg lost to Bayern Munich. Both teams have fairly long losing streaks going into this. Schalke are 8th in the league and could move up to 6th spot while Augsburg are probably a bit wary of relegation playoffs.
This is two completely out of form teams. Honestly I think Schalke should win but I feel it’s really a coinflip and hey at 2.00 odds they aren’t worth betting. Neither team has really been scoring much so I’ll go with 0.5u on Under 2.5 Goals at 1.90 odds. Overall quality wise Schalke could batter them like 3-0 but with the form they have been in it’s tough to see.
Mainz vs RB Leipzig: Leipzig are in 4th place and could realistically take 2nd place in the league. Mainz are 4 points above the relegation playoff spot so on paper, it should be a good win for Leipzig. Leipzig are also an excellent team away.
No surprise they are big favourites at 1.40. However Mainz have had a little bit of form lately and not looking bad. They have a decent home record lately too. Last time these two played, Leipzig won 8-0. This is a more speculative one but I’m going to go with Both Teams to Score = No for 0.5u at 2.20 odds. Just something about this game I think it will be tight and quiet. Could end up being way off of course hence 0.5u bet.
Cologne vs Fortuna Dusseldorf: Colone drew with Mainz, Dusseldorf had a tough draw against Paderborn. Dusseldorf are desperate as they are in the relegation playoff spot. Cologne are only 10 points above them so this is the type of game Dusseldorf have to look at and say “Hey we need to win this one”. Especially considering their upcoming schedule features the likes of Munich, Dortmund, and Leipzig.
We had Cologne last week and they disappointed us with a big collapse. Uwe Rosler has changed Fortuna around a good bit so I think they could get something out of this game. I wanted to back Fortuna or Draw but I am concerned about the mentality from last week.
After that slip-up, Cologne will be concentrating more this week. While this is a “must win” game for Roslers boys – last week was a must-win game as well and they failed to do it and that might affect their mentality.
