Last night we saw the Boston Bruins rally for a 4-2 win in game one of the Stanley Cup Finals. The Blues jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the second period before the Bruins got hot. They really turned it on and started had a huge shots on goal differential in the second to tie it up at two. They then went 2-0 in the fourth to grab the win. A great performance by the Bruins as they look for their first title since 2011.
The NBA Finals will be starting this Thursday. The Golden State Warriors are entering as a -280 favorite to win the series while the Raptors are +240. Kevin Durant has already been ruled out for game one, but he will travel with the team to Toronto. That injury could really have a big effect on this series and lead to an upset.
For tonight, we just have baseball and one WNBA game. The summer is nearing.
MLB Betting Tips:
St. Louis Cardinals at Philadelphia Phillies: Nick Pivetta has had a rough start to the season in his first four starts. He’s posted a 8.35 ERA/6.39 FIP as his HR/9 and BABIP have both been really bad. He’s not this bad of a pitcher, but I think the Cardinals are a really great team and can really exacerbate his struggles. There is some risk here with Adam Wainwright on the other mound, but I trust the Cards offense and bullpen more than the Phils.
Detroit Tigers at Baltimore Orioles: These are two of the worst teams in the league and two teams that I really don’t trust all that much. The Tigers offense is terrible and the Orioles pitching is terrible. That said, Matthew Boyd is on the mound for Detroit and he’s been fantastic this year. He has a 3.11 ERA/2.94 FIP on the year with big strikeout numbers and he’s done a good job keeping the ball in the park. That’s about all the Orioles have going for them and if he can shut them down, the Tigers can win this one.
WNBA Betting Tips:
Indiana Fever at Connecticut Sun: Early season WNBA is some of the best times to find values in this league. The Fever look to be better this season with outstanding rookie Teaira McCowan. Then again, anything is better than the state this team was in last season as they took 11 games just to get their first win of the season. They’ve already checked that box with a tight win over the Liberty. New York is just about the worst team in the league so that win is good for them, but not as impressive.
They have a long way to go before they are on the level of the Sun. Connecticut has been one of the winningest teams in the league over the past couple of seasons and despite losing Chiney Ogwumike, they have picked up where they left off. Alyssa Thomas leads the way with 23 points per game. The Sun play a smart brand of basketball and should be able to take advantage of the Fever’s poor defense. The line on this one is kind of big, but I’m willing to lay the points here. The Sun are that much better.
