As the Stanley Cup and NBA Finals get going, we are reminded that those sports will soon be done until the fall and we’ll have a summer filled with baseball. That’s too bad, but the good thing is that baseball is here for us every day. Thirteen, fourteen and fifteen game slates fill the schedule every day giving us plenty of options to bet on. Baseball is a tough game, but it is a consistent one and for that we are thankful.
Tonight all eyes will be on San Francisco as the Giants host the Nationals. We saw one of the biggest fights we’ve seen in baseball in a long time between these two teams as Bryce Harper rushed the mound on Hunter Strickland. Both players are likely to appeal whatever suspension is handed down so we should see Harper in the lineup tonight. That could get interesting as emotions are probably still running high on both sides.
Another interesting match-up is Chris Sale returning to Chicago to face his former team for the first time. The White Sox will send Jose Quintana to the mound against him who took over as the team’s ace after Sale’s trade to Boston. This could be a fun one.
MLB Betting Tips:
Chris Sale has been the best pitcher in baseball thus far this season and the White Sox, despite their high run total, are not a great offense. He has been striking people out at an extremely high rate and he should be very comfortable doing so tonight in his old home. Quintana has had a rough go this season, but has shown signs of getting it together. It won’t be easy tonight against this Red Sox offense, but I think he will pitch well in this spot at home. The Red Sox are a big favorite, but I like the under 7.5 runs line. Sale could easily throw a shutout and I expect Quintana to go deep.
The Milwaukee Brewers offense has really been getting it done this year and tonight they face rookie Tyler Pill of the Mets. Pill made an appearance over the weekend, taking the loss in an extra inning game, and I think the Brewers should get to him tonight. The Mets’ bullpen hasn’t done much to help this year and this just feels like a lay-up. Brewers +114 is a great value play.
Minnesota has been one of the best stories in baseball this season. They were the worst team in baseball last year, but right now are sitting in first place in the AL Central with the third best record in the American League. They’ve rode a little bit of luck and an outstanding offense to get here, but they may have an actual ace in Jose Berrios. The highly touted prospect looked rough last season, but has really shone this year. He draws a tough match-up against Houston tonight, but the good news is his offense gets to face Mike Fiers. I think the Twins will hit tonight and the Astros will have trouble with Berrios. I’m all over the Twins -114 tonight.
I don’t really care about the fight last night. What I’m interested in is the Nationals being awesome and the Giants being terrible. Nationals +100 against Samardzija is juicy.
The Braves and Angels do battle tonight and both team has their very best (and some could say only good) player on the disabled list with Mike Trout and Freddie Freeman both out. These offense barely scare me with them on the field so without them it could get ugly. I don’t care who is pitching, Under 8.5 runs is a solid play.
