Quite a nailbiter for our NBA picks yesterday. The Cavs easily came in, but with just three seconds left and his team down up by six Dwight Howard had a chance to put the cover away with two free throws. Luckily, he’s Dwight Howard and he bricked them.
Today offers a rare break from the NBA Playoffs which will allow us to focus a bit more on baseball. Thursday always means a lot of day baseball as it is usually a travel day for teams. In addition to all of the day baseball, the TPC at Sawgrass also kicked off this morning so there is plenty to watch all day long. In case you missed it, we post our golf tips every Wednesday so keep your eyes peeled for all the major events this summer. We have quite a few betting tips today so let’s get down to business.
MLB Betting Tips:
After starting out terribly, the Milwaukee Brewers fired their manager and have now won four out of their last five. They still have a long way to go to respectability, but they are looking good lately and like the near-.500 team they were projected to be in the preseason. Today breaks especially well for them as they start Mike Fiers who is 3-0 with a 1.06 ERA in his career against the Dodgers AND the Dodgers’ manager Don Mattingly has admitted he plans to rest some starters. Bet Brewers +112.
Sticking with the NL Central, the Cubs and Cardinals face off today as well. The run totals through three games in this series have been 19, 11 and 11. These two teams are hitting machines and it’s hard not to see that continuing today with neither Arrieta or Lackey being what one would call a shut down pitcher. Bet over 7.5 runs in this one.
Our final MLB tips of the day come from Minneapolis. Oakland and Minnesota play this afternoon in what could be another high scoring affair. Through the season both teams are averaging 8+ total runs a game and this is one of their worst matchups as Pomeranz (4.61 ERA) faces off against Nolasco (10.12 ERA) who has been a disaster this season. Bet over 8.5 runs and the Athletics -120. Maybe don’t watch though. This one won’t be pretty.
NHL Playoffs Betting Tips:
Two games tonight, two series that have the chance of ending tonight. I don’t think anyone quite expected both the Blackhawks and Lightning to be up 3-0 at this point, but here we are. The way these two teams have been playing they could be on a collision course for the Stanley Cup final, something bookmakers agree on as that match-up is currently 9/4.
Tonight, we see the Blackhawks +120 closing this one out. They’ve beaten the Wild at the high-scoring game and the low-scoring game, they simply own this team and are heading to the Conference finals.
The Montreal versus Lightning game is a bit tougher to call as everyone knows the Canadiens have a bit more fight in them. This one should be a tight, intense playoff hockey atmosphere which means one thing: under 5 goals.
