The MLS Is Back Tournament 2020 takes place beginning July 8th, and I aim to cover the majority of the games taking place here at SBT.
For those of us who are saddened by the loss of Euro 2020 – this is really the next best thing and should be a fun little tournament.
MLS is back featuring 6 groups, 26 teams and 54 matches.
The group stages will take place until the last week of July. Then we have the knockout stages beginning with the round of 16 on July 25th-28th.
Following that we’ve got the quarter finals July 30th-August 1st, then semi finals on August 5th-6th and finally the August 11th MLS Cup Final.
There’s the MLS Is Back 2020 schedule for ya.
Let’s get right into the opening two games and the betting tips. I’m going to stay away from futures for this tournament as so much is unknown.
MLS Is Back 2020 Bets:
Orlando City FC vs Inter Miami FC: Inter Miami go into this one as favourites at +120 This is the big Florida derby and the firs tmeeting of these teams. Inter Miami had initially opened the season with two losses to LAFC and DC United. The LAFC result nothing you can do about there although DC United was disappointing.
Orlando lost to Colorado and drew with Real Salt Lake.
Honestly I think there’s a good chance both these teams cancel each other out. I know we’re all hoping for a fiery opening game here and I really do hope that’s the case. I also actually lean towards Orlando here and feel that a lot of the bets are going on Inter Miami simply due to Beckham. I am going to bet against Inter Miami here. 1u on Orlando City or Draw at -163 odds meaning as long as Inter Miami don’t win, we win the bet.
Nashville SC vs Chicago Fire: Nashville are +300 underdogs in this one. Neither team opened the MLS season with a win. Nashville lost both their games and Chicago drew and lost. Chicago almost surprised Seattle as well in that opener that they lost. Chicago look like they are going to be good this season actually. I thought they were pretty solid against the Revolution.
Nashville had issues with players testing positive for COVID-19. Chicago have a big advantage here and I’ve got to back them. 3u on Chicago Fire -134.
