A tough race last week with multiple crashes including one in the final four laps that cost us the under on cautions. The race was tarnished by a rain delay on Sunday and a Monday start. Plus, everything that happened with Bubba Wallace just made this race have a cloud over it.
I had hopes with Alex Bowman as he finished the first stage in 2nd, but he dropped in the second before ultimately finishing 7th. Chase Elliot was another racer I had high hopes for and he started in the top-10 before a crash took him out of the race.
Ryan Blaney ended up getting the win here in the Team Penske Ford car. This was the fourth win of his career and his second straight at Talladega so he is one to watch when NASCAR comes to their most famous race track.
This week’s race takes place early Saturday from Long Pond, Pennsylvania at the Pocono Raceway. There will then be another race tomorrow, the Pocono 350. Denny Hamlin won this race last year after starting from the ninth position. He is part of a team of Toyota cars that have won this race five straight times. Kyle Busch has three of those wins so he is definitely one to watch here. The Joe Gibbs Racing team has really dominated this race with Erik Jones being the only racer on the team not to have won here. Spoiler alert: We’ll be watching him closely today.
NASCAR Poconos 325 Betting Tips:
It’s going to be pretty hard to ignore the Joe Gibbs Racing Team drivers in this one so they are going to make up two of our picks here. I am also going to throw in one other racer from a different team because variety is the spice of life.
I should note that if you can bet these with an E/U or also bet a top-5 finish on the same racers then I would definitely do that.
Denny Hamlin +800: Denny just absolutely owns this track. He’s finished 20th or better in 22 of his 28 races here with 5 wins and 11 top-5 finishes. We have had success with him in the past and I think we could see some success with him today as well.
Brad Keselowski +800: If you don’t want to go with a Toyota car, go with Brad. He has been one of the best drivers this season and is coming into this one really hot. He had his issues last week, but the shorter track should help him get back on track.
Erik Jones +2000: Jones time is coming. He has a 100.7 Average Driver Rating since 2005 at the track which ranks third among all drivers. The risk of a DNF is always there with him, but he has three finishes inside the top three and was the runner-up here last year. I can see him and Hamlin teaming up again to dominate this one. Maybe this is the year he gets to take the checkered flag.
