The Rockets came out firing yesterday and took game one of the series outright. We had taken them with the points, but it was nice to see them take the game outright. James Harden did James Harden things with 36 points in 34 minutes, while Westbrook and Eric Gordon also had good games.

The Rockets defense continues to be really good since going small and the Lakers just didn’t have a good answer for them here. LeBron only scored 20 points in this one. It’s going to be a rough go for the Lakers going forward.

My exact quote in yesterday’s tip for the Bucks was:

I feel like a fool going for the Bucks here again, but I just can’t believe that things will go down like this and they’ll go down 3-0.

Well, I feel like a fool. The Bucks proved me right for three quarters and then the Heat just absolutely locked down. A 40-13 final quarter took this game from close to an absolute destruction and the Bucks are now just one game from going home. Giannis played 35 minutes and Middleton played 36 minutes as Coach Budenholzer simply refused to change things up.

There is going to be a lot of talk about where Giannis is going next because that is what the NBA is now, but this is definitely a situation where the bubble changed everything for two teams. The Heat figured things out while the Bucks lost their mojo. I can’t imagine things going this way if coronavirus never comes. Milwaukee’s roster construction is a failing to be sure, but the Bucks would be stupid to trade Giannis and Giannis would be wrong to request a trade just yet. This isn’t a normal year.

The NBA is back tonight with a huge game three between the Celtics and Raptors while the Nuggets hope to get on the board in their series with the Clippers after a game one shellacking.

Toronto Raptors vs. Boston Celtics Betting Tips:

The Celtics looked like they might go up 3-0 in this series before a huge buzzer beater three from OG Anunoby that gave the Raptors the win in game three. That is the kind of shot that if they miss then the Raptors are probably getting swept, but since they made it – we have a whole new series on their hand. Fred VanVleet said it best after the game when he said “they (expletive)’d up.” Yes, they did.

I’ve been waiting this whole series for the Raptors to have a good shooting game and I almost took the over here, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. The pace just hasn’t been there for these teams. However, I do think the chance of it happening is good enough that I won’t be betting the over either.

Toronto has had a really weird series, but I just can’t shake the feeling that they’ve under performed and are going to break out here. No knock on the Boston defense which has been really good, but Lowry and VanVleet are not going to shoot like this forever.

Bet Raptors -1

Denver Nuggets vs. Los Angeles Clippers Betting Tips:

The Nuggets got absolutely crushed in the first game as they looked very tired from their long series with the Jazz and the Clippers looked like the NBA’s best defense.

No matter what happens in this game, I think we can all agree that the Nuggets might be the worst defense left in these playoffs. They don’t win by locking down, they win by getting the score high and scoring more. That’s an oversimplification, but they just had nearly every game of their last series hit the over and I think we should see more of that here.

The Nuggets offense will play better than they did last time out. While at the same time I could see the Clippers doing another 120. Take the over.
