A nice win on Thursday, as the Cowboys duly delivered for us.
For all new subscribers and followers – I do two separate posts for the NFL. In the first post I cover all of the early games, and then I cover the later games in another post.
Early game post usually goes up Saturday, with the late games on the Sunday.
With that we’ve got a good slate with a lot of fun games. Let’s get to it:
Bears vs Cardinals:
Cardinals are 7.5 point favourites here on the road in Chicago. Murray is a game day decision as is Hopkins. Bears no clue but I expect Dalton? If Murray and Hopkins are in, back Cards -7.5. If both aren’t I’d say skip it. McCoy is decent enough but it’s not enough for me.
Texans vs Colts:
Colts are 10 point favourites here. They come in off a tough loss to the Bucs. One concern is that they beat the Jags but couldn’t even cover by a touchdown. They did beat the Jets by 15. Texans have actually not did too bad results wise lately.
Colts should win but I’m not super excited about them covering the spread. I’d lean Texans to cover the spread honestly as their defense is showing more consistency – but man, it’s the Texans. Plus Taylor is in beast mode at the moment. No play here.
Bengals vs Chargers:
Chargers are 3 point underdogs here on the road. They just got that pounding off the Broncos. Bengals got that huge win over the Steelers which I liked to see.
I like the Bengals this season. I’ve bet them a fair bit. Chargers are a team you can fear. They have the quality even if it doesn’t always work out. I think Allen could have a rough time going up against Mike Hilton. They may have to rely more on Mike Williams but Apple is no pushover. I don’t see too many concerns for Chase or Higgins. Happy to back Bengals -3.
Lions vs Vikings:
I was disappointed in the Vikings last week against the 49ers and now they have another road game. They’ve generally been good this season on the road though. Lions continue to struggle although to their credit a lot of close games.
Andy Dalton just ripped them apart for 317 passing yards and I expect Cousins to have a good day. Cook is out for two weeks but Mattison is fine. He should have a good day while Swift is still beaten up. Justin Jefferson should have a good matchup against Oruwariye. I backed Vikings -7 earlier in the week, but Vikings -7.5 is still fine.

Dolphins vs Giants:
Mike freaking Glennon starting with the Giants this week. They are 6 point underdogs against a Dolphins team who just took Cam Newton to task. Giants getting rid of Garrett too is still fresh and things will be all over the place with them. Waddle should have a good day, and Dolphins -6 is fine with me. Tua and Waddle always a good bet to make.
Jets vs Eagles:
Eagles 6.5 point favourites here. Coming in off that surprise Giants loss. That one was a shocker to me. Hurts had the worst game of his career. I hate performances like that as it really puts you off backing the team the next week but then you may miss out on some value.
He’s a bit banged up too. Jets come in at least putting up points but man Zach Wilson is not good, sadly. I don’t love backing the Eagles after last week but this is a good game to get back on track. Jets are one of those teams where if you get less than a touchdown, you just gotta do it. Eagles -6.
Edit: With Hurts out avoid this one altogether..
Falcons vs Bucs:
After some issues, Bucs got a win last week and looked solid against stiff opposition. Falcons beat the Jags. Gronk is back and looking strong, Bucs will be motivated and yeah they will be missing AB which is tough – but they enjoy running up the numbers. I’d much prefer 10 points, but I’ll go with Bucs -10.5. Keep an eye on that one though as it may drop. Saw it move after the AB news.
