It’s Saturday, which means the weekend and it was a disappointing end to the regular week. However, we’re got a lot of sport on, which means a lot of bets to pick out. The team have been looking around and sniffing out as much value as they can find.
Of course, the highlight for most sports fans has to be El Clasico – the first Real Madrid vs Barcelona match of the season. But, more importantly, it’s the competitive debut in a Barcelona shirt for one Luis Suarez. So all eyes will be on the Uruguayan international. Elsewhere, it’s the usual Spanish line-up, with some competitive fixtures about.
We also have the European Darts Championship, which saw the elimination of four seeds yesterday. It’s still a stacked field and the second lot of second round matches are scheduled for later on today.
There is also the obligatory NHL and CFL picks for the weekend. So, all-in-all, we’re looking at a huge weekend of sport. And that’s without tomorrow’s NFL action.
Real Madrid vs Barcelona:
All eyes on Luis Suarez, then. Both teams are coming off impressive Champions League wins, with Real dismantling Liverpool at Anfield, and Barcelona easily seeing off Ajax at the Nou Camp.
It’s easy to forget that there are other big names making their El Clasico bow, with James Rodriguez looking like a class act in the white. The one worry for Real is the absence of one Gareth Bale, which is a big loss. Not that they don’t have cover, but it’s hard to replace one of the best players in the world.
That being said, this is made for Suarez. He’s a big game player, and even if he comes off the bench, he is the key. Neymar and Messi are starting to look a dangerous partnership too. But it’s hard to separate the teams. We think, however, we are going to see a lot of goals, as tends to be the norm with these two. Defense is not an option. Over 3.5 goals is a steal.
Ronny Huybrechts vs Mervyn King
Onto the darts and the European Championship, with the night’s final game between Ronny Huybrechts and Mervyn King the focus here. Huybrechts had a huge win over James Wade, but his average was not that great, a shade over 91. It sums up that Wade was playing poorly. Mervyn King wasn’t much better, but his poor average was down to his poor doubling, which cannot get any worse. He showed good fight to come back against Critstian Kist, and the longer format of the second round will suit King. He’s more than good enough to get past Huybrechts, and he should see him off with ease, so get on the handicap of -2.5.
Chicago Blackhawks vs St Louis Blues
To put it simply, the woes for the St Louis Blues should continue tonight. The Blackhawks coming to town couldn’t be much worse for the Blues, whose recent form has been less than stellar. Two heavy loses for the Blues sum up their week, and the poor form of TJ Oshie isn’t helping things.
As for the Blackhawks, they’ve looked solid so far this season, with Antti Raanta looking a solid stand-in in the net. Jonathan Toews is the key for the Blackhawks, and we think he’ll step it up and lead them to a significant victory tonight.
BC Lions vs Winnipeg Blue Bombers
The CFL regular season is starting to win down, and this is a huge game for the Lions. They come into this game against the Blue Bombers rested after a bye, which could be the key here against the Bombers. The Lions have no conceded a tuochdown in their last 3 games, either, which looks ominous for the Bombers, who can still mathematically make the playoffs. The Lions are 5 point favorites here, and we think that looks good for us.
