Last night in baseball we saw the New York Yankees become the first team to move on to the second round of the MLB Playoffs. The Twins had many, many chances in this one, but ultimately ended up with only one run. They left the bases loaded in the second inning and then squandered multiple chances after that. The Yankees bullpen is looking pretty scary right now and they will be the best rested headed into the ALCS.
The Yankees await the winner of the Rays and Astros in the ALCS. The Astros have looked like a dominant team until they ran into a guy they let go this offseason in Charlie Morton. He pitched very well last night and the Rays exploded on offense to keep this series alive. They play game four tonight with the Astros again having a chance to close out the series.
Tonight, we also have the Washington Mystics attempting to close out the Connecticut Sun on the road. Washington has a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series and this is a must win for Connecticut. We also have some NHL action, good to have that back on the schedule. Let’s go!
MLB Betting Tips:
Houston Astros at Tampa Bay Rays: Despite the big win yesterday, the Rays enter this one as a massive underdog. The Astros opened as -240 favorites and a big reason for that is the man in the picture up there, the ace Justin Verlander.
My system mostly agrees with that, although the line wouldn’t be quite that high. Where I think this line is off a bit is in the total. The line is set at just 7.5 and two of the three games in this series have gone over that, including game one that saw Verlander pitching. This will be Tampa’s second time seeing Verlander in less than a week so you have to think they will have some success here.
As for the Astros, I am expecting huge things from the offense today. They have not had a problem with the Rays pitching outside of Morton and this will be a bullpen game for Tampa. I think the Astros score big and close out the series here.
WNBA Betting Tips:
Washington Mystics at Connecticut Sun: There are some real team of destiny vibes coming off the Mystics right now. Seemingly in trouble with the injury to Elena Delle Donne, she managed to somehow play in the last game. She gave a herculean effort as she played through much pain and the Mystics won handily.
They will look to keep that same energy here on the road as they look to win the WNBA title. The Mystics are really carried by their great depth as they have players like Emma Meesseman coming off the bench who would start for most teams. They don’t need Delle Donne to win this one, but she will provide the spark this team needs to close it out on the road tonight.
NHL Betting Tips:
San Jose Sharks at Nashville Predators: The Sharks are way too good of a team to start this season 0-4. They are 0-3 right now with some bad losses. They have deserved to lose these games, but they are a veteran team and they know how to sum up the energy when they need it. They need it right now and they are getting back Evander Kane for this one. This line is completely out of whack based on the talent level of these two teams, Sharks should show up here.
