It’s finally here, our long nightmare is over and the NFL season is upon us. This should be another great season with tons of interesting storylines across the league. The Seahawks look to make another run, the Packers are always a threat, the Patriots will try to get back without Brady for the first few weeks and the list goes on. Tonight features a rematch of the Super Bowl as the Carolina Panthers face the Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos. The Broncos look much different as they no longer have Peyton Manning behind center nor is Brock Osweiler. Instead they will go with Trevor Semien, a rookie out of Northwestern who could be in for a rude awakening this season. The defense that won the Super Bowl is still there, but this is a tough league for a rookie quarterback.
The Panthers will look to make it back to the Super Bowl with another huge season from Cam Newton. Much like the Broncos, the defense is mostly intact and still very scary, but it is Cam Newton who makes this train go and he should be ready for another MVP caliber season.
Panthers vs. Broncos Betting Tips:
The crowd will be hot with this one as it is the first regular season game after winning the Super Bowl for the home team, but that should be shut down rather quickly. I just can’t see Trevor Semien performing very well against the Panthers defense who should have a lot of motivation to grab the win today. This line has moved quite a bit already as the money has been coming in on the side of the Panthers. That’s because this is the smart play and the Broncos just don’t have the weapons to compete offensively, Carolina -3.
MLB Betting Tips:
The Rockies’ Jeff Hoffman is one of the top pitching prospect out there and he makes the start again tonight against the San Diego Padres. He hasn’t had a good run thus far, but the stuff is there and tonight’s match-up against the Padres is probably the most favorable on the slate. Their offense has been terrible as of late and they should be just the right thing for Hoffman to have his first great MLB start. Bet Rockies +134.
The under the radar pitching match-up tonight is the Pirates and Reds game. Dan Straily has been one of the few bright spots in the Reds rotation while Ivan Nova has completely reinvented himself since coming to the Pirates. Both of these offenses don’t really scare me and I think this one should easily go under 8.5 runs.
Seattle has scored 29 runs in the first three games of the series against the Rangers and tonight they get Derek Holland. It’s like asking Joey Chestnut to eat a cocktail weenie after he’s downed 20 hot dogs, no problem. The Mariners -114 are a strong play as the Rangers bullpen has to be hurting after these first few games.
