Well, a decent day for us, going 3-2 for the day, putting us 5-6 for the tournament and -0.77 units for the tournament.
Now, I’ll only be able to send out quarter-final tips, as obviously the semi-finals won’t be known until later today and this e-mail goes out around 11am. Still, i’m sure there’s a winning tips or two to be had in thge quarter-finals. Mervyn King vs Terry Jenkins.
Mervyn King has been, excuse the pun, the comeback king of the tournament. Twice he’s come back from 5-2 down to win 6-5 and then 8-5. He averaged 97.38 in his win over Simon Whitlock, which he’s no doubt going to be buoyed by. Terry Jenkins has been playing solid darts, but only averaged 89.19 against Steve Beaton, but it was good enough for the win, obviously.
King leads the head-to-head 6-5 and I think this is going to be a tight one. So, the value is definitely in backing Jenkins here, as King is just a tad too short for my liking.

Wes Newton vs Phil Taylor.
The man of the moment, Wes Newton, takes on a resurgent Phil Taylor. Both men had impressive wins in the second round, with Taylor looking close to some kind of form, while Newton carried on the form that got him a lot of wins in the back end of 2010. Is this the time for Newton to break his duck against Taylor? Sadly, I don’t think so. While Newton is playing well, thge psychological factor is massive. Plus, is Taylor can bring the form he showed against James Wade to the stage, Newton will have to play one of the games of his life and he alreay ddi that to beat Mark Webster.
Recommend: No bet.
Gary Anderson vs Andy Smith.
Andy Smith, another player in great form on the floor, is unlucky to have to come up against the only man to average over 100 in both his matches in this tournament, Gary Anderson. Anderson has been playing heavy scoring darts and that’s not going to stop against Smith. One lapse in concentration for Smith and he’ll be a goner, just like he was at the Alexandra Palace. Simply put, I see a similar outcome to this match as the one at the World Championships. There’s no value in Anderson 2/5, so we’ll leave that one alone.
Recommmend: No bet.
Steve Farmer vs Colin Lloyd.
Colin Llyod won 6-0 this only time he faced Steve Farmer, but I can’t see it being that easy for him this time. Farmer has been playing exceptionally good darts, as has Lloyd, so a whitewash is definitely out of the question this time. In a race to 9, while Lloyd is rightful favourite, his average in the last round was only 2 points greater than Farmer’s, so it’ definitely going to be close. We’ve made money backing Farmer already and I think there’s still value to be had in backing him, as the bookies seriously underestimate the kind of form he’s in and just how inconsistent Lloyd is at the moment.
