Christmas is thankfully over and we can get back to what’s most important about this time of year – darts. We’ve got the final 6 third round matches, and it’s not the most exciting line-up we could have had. Wes Newton kicks of proceedings against Mark Walsh, then we have the battle of the high-scorers, when Simon Whitlock takes on Dave Chisnall. Then the resurgent James Wade faces Vincent van der Voort. Michael van Gerwen kicks off the evening session against Colin Lloyd, with Gary Anderson taking on Raymond van Barneveld in what could be the tie of the round. And then Adrian Lewis closes the day against Kevin Painter.
The final day of darts before Christmas was fantastic, with a 9-darter from Dean Winstanley in his defeat to Vinent van der Voort, along with an unbelievable performance from Michael van Gerwen, coming from 2-0 against Peter Wright. Mark Walsh and James Wade also secured their places in the third round. Then Andy Hamilton somewhat fortuitously beat Terry Jenkins to be the first person into the quarter-finals, followed by Phil Taylor, who destroyed Robert Thornton.
Thanks to Dean Winstanley and Vincent van der Voort hammering the 180s, the Free Darts Betting Tip is 7-3 with a profit of +8.2 units.
