Another unlucky night for us last night, with us going 1-4, taking us to 5-11 for this horrible, horrible tournament. We’re now -4.75 units, with one day left for us to get some Christmas spends.

We’re not the only ones hurt by last night’s results, with Gary Anderson, Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld making shock exits. So, we’ll have our free tips for the quarter-finals, as we won’t be able to make the turnaround for the semis and the final. So, the free tips for the final day of the Players Championship are coming right now!

The markets at Betfair are always great during the big darts tournaments. Betfair is traditionally the best value around and the ability to trade your position during a match is great. And add in the free bet promotions, you’re onto a winner.

Wes Newton versus Mark Walsh:

The resurgent Mark Walsh makes yet another quarter-final and he’ll have his toughest match of the tournament against the ever-consistent Wes Newton. Both men will fancy this, and they’ll even think they have a chance of winning the entire tournament with the form they’re both in.

The form player here is Mark Walsh, so we although I did slate him yesterday, you have to follow him at such a big price.

Mark Walsh to beat Wes Newton: 7/4 @ Betfair.

Recommend: 1.5 units.

James Wade versus Scott Rand.

James Wade will have looked at the draw and expected to face Raymond van Barnveld, but Scott Rand deserves his place in the quarter-finals and is finally living up to a bit of the hype that surrounded him earlier in the year.

Wade hasn’t looked great, but he’s doing what he does best – grinding out results. Rand, on the other hand, has been playing some good darts, he’s scoring well and he’s not daunted by the big guns; he’s playing with nothing to lose and it’s helping him no end.

Wade is rightly favourite here, but Rand has proven he has the mettle to hang with the big guns and there’s a tasty price, especially in this race to 9. Rand looks good value here, as Wade’s just not been scoring as heavily as he can.

Scott Rand to beat James Wade: 7/2 @ Betfair.

Recommend: 0.5 unit.

Mervyn King versus Kevin Painter:

A big chance for both men here and both will fancy their chances after impressive wins in the previous round. Mervyn King will be riding the crest of a wave after beating Phil Taylor and Kevin Painter will just be happy to get some form back after a poor year by his standards.

I think King should take this, but I don’t like backing him at such a skinny price, as his form over the last 12 months just doesn’t instil confidence – all it takes is for him to get back into that poor vein of form and it’s all over.

What I do like a lot here is the highest checkout market. King’s been putting in some big checkouts (including a 170 against Colin Lloyd) and the line of 121.5 is a bit low for me, especially as both men will know they need the big checkouts to take this match, so we’ll attack that and make them suffer!

Highest checkout in King vs Painter match over 121.5: 5/6 @ Paddy Power.

Recommend: 3 units.

Mark Webster versus Dave Chisnall.

A big match for both men and Webster might just consider himself a bit more fortunate than Chisnall. Webster scraped past Justin Pipe, while Chisnall have a very comfortable win over Co Stompe.

With that in mind, we have to be backing Chisnall here, because he’s looked in great shape and his scoring is probably the best out of everyone left in the tournament. The only worry is his finishing, but he’ll get the chances against Webster, all he has to do is take them and he’ll be in the semi-finals.

The price is nice for Chisnall, so we’ll get on!

Dave Chisnall to beat Mark Webster: 6/5 @ Betfair.

Recommend: 1.5 units.
