Due to time constraints I took a bit of a break from golf betting the last couple of weeks. Plus with the end of the PGA Tour I wasn’t super motivated.
However I must admit I got that motivation back after the ending of the Omega Masters. I love me a good playoff and that was a fun end to that one. Got me wishing I had some bets on it.
This week the European Tour has the Porsche European Open. In terms of who to bet there’s nothing huge out there but I’m still interested in it and have managed to find a couple of picks.
It’s an interesting one in terms of the odds as it’s a bit top heavy with Paul Casey, Xander Schauffele and Patrick Reed all placed firmly as the three favourites.
Of the three, I’ve got to back Paul Casey to win. I think his price isn’t too shabby and metrics wise for what I feel is worth for this course, he’s right up there. The only concern is the rain here and how that will affect things with driving power. However he’s worth a small bet.
The rest of my bets are just three players and they are all to win and top 5 meaning you should split your bet amount over that.
The first one is Lucas Herbert at 60/1. Not too shabby a price here. He’s a very streaker golfer. Just look at how great he played last year for a period for example. He has the skill and ability and I am hoping that last weeks performance is a return to form for him. Either way, well worth a gamble on Lucas here.
I’m also backing Matthias Schwab who is 25/1. He ticks the boxes. Can play well here. Coming in on hot form. Got to think he can keep that going here and keep the ball rolling….right into the hole.
Finally I’m on Alex Levy who is about 33/1. Levy is always a tough one to back as he has disappointed on many an occasion and has quite a few missed cuts this year. In saying that this is one of those tournaments he seems to like and he has had good performances here on this course so I’ve got to back him.
That’s it from me – looking forward to covering the NFL soon!
