This week, we have the RSM Classic in the PGA Tour.
We were so close to a MASSIVE cash in the OHL Classic. It was a nailbiting finish, but unfortunately Bohn could not quite win the playoff.
Now it’s going to be a bit difficult predicting this week based on history – because of the big change. Normally, this event is held at the Seaside Course on the Sea Island Golf Course. Now however there is an additional course being added which is the Plantation Course.
So the field will be split over the first two rounds taking place on both. The Plantation Course is a Par 72, and the Seaside Course is a Par 70.
Of course we can’t count out course history because the final rounds take place at the Seaside Course. But it does throw a spanner in the works slightly and forces us to be a bit more cautious.
Let’s look at the betting odds:
RSM Classic 2015 Betting Odds:
- Zach Johnson: 12/1
- Matt Kuchar: 16/1
- Justin Thomas: 16/1
- Kevin Kisner: 18/1
- Grame McDowell: 22/1
- Patrick Rodgers: 25/1
- Bill Haas: 25/1
- Russell Henley: 30/1
- Patton Kizzire: 33/1
- Brandt Snedeker: 33/1
Harris English is also 33/1.
RSM Classic Betting Tip #1: Chris Kirk
The additional course being added means we’ll bet just quarter of a unit on the 40/1 Chris Kirk.
Chris Kirk has solid course history here the last two years. He won it two years ago and he followed that up with a 4th place last year.
It’s a course he does well on and it really seems to suit him. He’s not been playing well at all but course form makes this an easy bet.
RSM Classic Betting Tip #2: Kevin Kisner
Kevin Kisner is coming off a FINE showing at the WGC HSBC Championships, is rested and we hope he can follow up on his 4th place finish last year here.
He’s played here before and not did better than the top 10 until last year – but he has hit a run of form and the addition of the Plantation Course may actually help him. It really does seem to suit him as a golfer.
Kisner has had a great season already and although no wins yet – he has had many 2nd places and we think his putting is going to be instrumental here to lead him to victory or at least the top 5.
We’ll be on Kisner for half a unit.
RSM Classic Betting Tip #3: Fabian Gomez
A quarter unit bet on Fabian Gomez. Gomez has had a couple of solid results on the PGA Tour – a 17th in the Frys.com Open and 16th in Shriners. He’s also had a top 10 finish here in the past.
He’s nothing mind blowing but he is a nice price and coming off a win elsewhere. Not anything close to a lock to even make the cut but at 110/1 he may just surprise some people.
