The Scottish Premiership kicks off this weekend. Current champions Celtic will face off against St. Johnstone on the Saturday, and newly promoted Ross County host Hamilton on the same day.
On Sunday, this years champions(hopefully) Rangers face off against Kilmarnock in a tricky tie away, while Aberdeen take on Hearts in what should be a good game.
Doing betting tips before the regular season has even begun is always tricky. There’s only so much you can learn from pre-season friendlies and European qualifiers.
Instead what I like to do at this point is look for value. Look at the teams whose odds are the way they are based more on name value than anything else. One example of that would be Man Utd last year – they’ve often been favourites in matches they don’t deserve to be, but due to their name value they are.
These are often speculative but sometimes you can get a nice price.
Kilmarnock vs Rangers Betting Tips:
Rangers are in the midst of that fun spot in between European games. They just played on Thursday away to Progres, have to travel back to Scotland and face Kilmarnock, then have to travel out to Denmark for Thursdays game against FC Midtjylland.
It’s a rough schedule. Of course a large part of their being favourites is due not just to name value but due to Kilmarnocks loss in Europe against Connah’s Quay Nomads. That was some embarrassing stuff from Killie.
That just makes me think that Kilmarnock will come out very motivated for this game.
Killie were excellent last season and came in third place. They lost Steve Clarke but it’s still a lot of the same base. Rangers are still missing Allan McGregor and Steven Davis may not play.
Hope I’m wrong but a strong possibility for an upset here.

Livingston vs Motherwell Betting Tips:
Livingston are going to have serious troubles this season I think. Losing Craig Halkett, Declan Gallagher and Liam Kelly is absolutely brutal. They were a tough side last season purely due to those three and they really haven’t brought in anyone who can replace them. They know it’s going to be an uphill battle.
Motherwell will have more optimism. Of course the David Turnbull saga was quite a mess and unfortunately they will be without him for a few months, but they’ve got some promising players such as Liam Polworth who I think could really fit in well here.
Motherwell looked absolutely tremendous in the Betfred Cup with 4 wins and 4 clean sheets in 4 games.
Motherwell have been an ever evolving team with the way they play and have a nice flexible team. We saw them go with the 4-3-3 in the Betfred Cup and I think we’ll see that again here as they push a Livingston defence. They’ve also got two quality goalkeepers fighting for the position which is always nice.
