We had a nice night last night going 2-1. The Bears did what we thought they would do as their defense really dominated this one. Six sacks by the defense and one interception, that team is a bad one.
The NFL is done for week two and now it’s back to baseball. There are now less than two weeks left in the season and some of these races could come down to the final weekend. The Athletics are trying to chase down the Yankees for the first Wild Card and I hope they get it. That game would feel so much more fun if it was in Oakland. I’ve had enough of Yankee Stadium.
The Dodgers and Rockies are currently in a battle for the NL West with the Dodgers win last night giving them a 0.5 game lead. They play again tonight. The Brewers are chasing the Cubs, but they are probably locked in to the top Wild Card spot. They are being chased by the Cardinals and the loser of the NL West race. We could see a tiebreaker game there which would be amazing. It should be a fun final days of the season.
MLB Betting Tips:
The biggest rivalry in baseball continues tonight as the Yankees and Red Sox square off at Yankee Stadium. The general consensus around these games is that they are usually slugfests with it not really mattering who is pitching. I am going to challenge that today as I really think this one is going to go under. JA Happ goes for the Yankees and the Red Sox haven’t hit lefties well all season as they are below average.
The Yankees offense has been not as frightening without Judge and have been struggling (by their standards) of late as well. Nathan Eovaldi isn’t the greatest pitcher, but he’s solid and has pitched here before. I don’t think he’ll be intimidated.
Both of these teams have struggled at the plate of late with the Red Sox having a 88 wRC+ over the past two weeks and the Yankees with a 94 wRC+ over the same period. They are cold and they will struggle to put up ten runs combined here.
Bet Yankees/Red Sox Under 9.5 Runs
The man pictured above is Corey Kluber and he might be my favorite play today. The White Sox are just playing out the string on the season here and I am not expecting much from them today. Kluber is coming off one of his worst starts of the year and I am expecting a big bounceback from him.
Carlos Rodon has struggled all year and the Indians hit lefties well. He’s running a ridiculous .209 batting average on balls in play which is just not sustainable. That will come back on him and this offense could be the thing to do just that.
My other favorite game of the day is the Rays and the Rangers. Blake Snell has been one of the best pitchers in the American League this season and it’s hard not to like him here. His team has been red hot, the best in baseball over the past two months and the Rangers are… not that.
Yovanni Gallardo is a great pitcher to target as he is very hittable. Throw in the red hot Rays offense, 124 wRC+ over the past two weeks, and this is an easy pick.
