Are the knives already out for Jose Mourinho in the red half of Manchester? Three defeats in a row and all-comers are gunning not just for Mourinho, but also for Paul Pogba. To be fair, it’s not a shock they lost to Manchester City, and Feyenoord are going well in Holland, but losing 3-1 to Watford at the weekend was a shocker. Sure, Mourinho can blame the refs, but there’s something missing from United, just as there was from Chelsea last season under Mourinho. Of course, Chelsea fans will now think their team is in a slump after losing to Liverpool on Friday. While Manchester City fans are worshipping Pep, in the same way Merseyside are going daft for Jurgen Klopp and Ronald Koeman. So, a lot of stories in the English Premiership coming out of the weekend.
Now, in the NFL, what was the big story? Well, Adrian Peterson made the headlines for an injury that is going to ruin the Vikings’ season already. The Rams got their first win at home for over two decades against a Seattle outfit who really, well, just suck at the moment. The Redskins have confirmed that they have been over-rated in the pre-season, too. But the most interesting seems to be that the Patriots just don’t seem to be missing Tom Brady as much as people might have thought. They had Jimmy Garoppolo who has gone well enough, although with his injury things might now change for New England with Jacoby Brissett. It’s early days, sure, but like the English Premiership, there are some interesting storylines developing already and I can’t wait to see how they all play out. I mean, surely the Seahawks aren’t going to suck for an entire seasons.

NFL Betting Tip
After a double header to open the season last week, we’re back to just one game on a Monday Night, and we have Philadelphia travelling to Chicago in what looks to be a decent selection for Monday Night Football. Carson Wentz gave us an interesting story coming into this, as the rookie quarterback had a fantastic debut and shot to fame virtually overnight after the Eagles saw off the Browns 29-10. Of course, facing the Bears in Chicago is a different prospect, but it’s not like Jay Cutler is the most intimidating quarterback to go up against at this moment in time.
Chicago are coming off an opening day defeat by the Texans, but they weren’t disgraced and actually lead 14-10 at halftime before losing 23-14. so, sure, their second half was poor, but their first half was great against a Texans side that looks solid defensively.
There are questions to be answered by both sides here. We have a rookie quarterback with a lot on his shoulders, while the Bears have a WR who is technically a rookie, who was poor in his opening game this season, Kevin White. The Bears relied a lot on White last week, who failed to deliver. Another performance like that and they might struggle again. But I see this being tight, and I think the play here is Eagles +3 because confidence this early on in the season is vital, and if Carson Wentz can build on that, we could be seeing something special in the rookie. Of course, he needs the backing of his team, but these are the games the Eagles need to be competitive in this season, and I can see them pushing the Bears close.
