If you’re looking for LPGA Betting Tips for the LPGA Ana Inspiration – unfortunately, we have no betting tips for that this week.
We do however have betting tips – well, one – for the PGA this week.
It’s the week before the Masters, and the PGA tour heads to Texas at the Golf Club of Houston for the Shell Houston Open. This tournament has played at this location since 2003. It’s also been known as the Shell Houston Open since 1992. Prior to that, it was the Independent Insurance Agent Open.
Since the name change, the most notable golfer at this course was Vijay Singh who won it 3 out of 4 years in the early 200s. We haven’t had a repeat winner since 206, when Stuart Appeby won it for the 2nd time.
The last winners of this tournament are Matt Jones, D.A. Points, Hunter Mahan and Phil Mickelson.
Let’s check out the Shell Houston Open odds, before getting to the betting tips:
Shell Houston Open 2015 Betting Odds:
- Jordan Spieth: 7/1
- Matt Kuchar: 14/1
- Patrick Reed: 14/1

- Rickie Fowler: 22/1
- J.B. Holmes: 22/1
- Phil Mickelson: 25/1
- Louis Oosthuizen: 28/1
- Ryan Moore: 30/1
- Lee Westwood: 33/1
Those are the odds, now let’s see what we can rustle up for tips:
Shell Houston Open Betting Tip #1: Matt Kuchar
Not the most imaginative betting tip this week, as we go with Matt Kuchar E/W at the price of 14/1. Matt Kuchar is the 2nd favourite behind the young Jordan Spieth.
Kuchar comes into this on the back of some solid form. Since the winter break he’s had a good PGA tour, making every cut and wrapping up two top 5 finishes. Those were the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Humana Challenge, where he finished 3rd and 2nd respectively.
He showed a sign of getting back to form just last week with the Valero Texas Open, shooting a great 69 on the last day to bring him up to 15th.
Last year, Matt Kuchar came 2nd at this very course and tournament. He also last played it in 2010 and 2011, where he got two top 10 finishes, coming 8th both times.
Kuchar is a good pick, however we are not 100% on him, and recommend only a half unit bet this time out.
SHELL HOUSTON RESULTS & ANALYSIS:
Unfortunately Kuchar had a very bad tournament. He barely made the cut, but just did not perform well at all on the last day. He shot a 67 to start, then a 72 and a 71. Nothing mindblowing and he probably wasn’t going to get in the top 5 anyway. But just a very bad performance on the final day unfortunately.
