Last weeks outing at the Sanderson Farms was very disappointing with no contenders on the final day. I’ve said it before but with the huge variance in golf that’s the one thing I aim for – to at least be in contention with a golfer or two on the final day.
Only Will Gordon made the cut. Frustratingly he had a killer round 1, a 66, and was tied first round leader. Then he stank it up on day two with a 76 that ruined his chances.
This week we have the Shriners Open. Last year was a tough one at this tournament. I had the 40/1 Matthew Wolff who played excellent golf the entire weekend, and looked great for the win. Then on the last day when he racked up a -3, Sungjae Im came out of nowhere with a -9 to sneak the win. That was brutal.
Let’s get to it:
Shriners Open Bets
GIR & Putts in GIR are generally the two biggest factors here. Like last week, 4 small bets all totalling 1u.
1/4u / $31.50 on Sungjae Im to Win @ 11/1
Last years winner and he has always played well here. Doing the math, I think the short odds are fine on Sungjae here.
1/4u / $31.50 on Vincent Norrman To Win & E/W at 275/1
It’s been a bit of a rough start for Norrman on the PGA Tour. started well enough with the 36th place at the Fortinet then missed the cut last week. To be fair he came into it on bad form as well. I think he’ll be more comfortable on these greens, and the early pressure is off. If you look at his overall stats on the Korn Ferry tour, I think his game should be suited for this one with his tee to green ability. This is one where you may want to do a more safer top 40 or something like that.
1/4u / $31.50 on Taylor Pendrith To Win & E/W at 50/1
Tied for 47th last year but still put up -8. Showed his ability with an excellent 65 in the first round. I think stands out among the metrics needed for here. Was doing exceptionally well a couple of months ago. A tad hot and cold right now but I liked the way he bounced back at the BMW Championship.
