I haven’t covered the Scottish Premier League too much in the second half of this season. To be honest it can be quite a difficult league to cover at times due to the betting odds.
Generally Celtic/Rangers game are out unless you’re betting on their opponents to score in a BTTS bet, or you feel like they might slip up.
Then you throw in one other heavy favourite – such as Hibs against Ross County tomorrow – and it really lowers the opportunity of betting.
However I’ve decided to have a crack at the games taking place this Wednesday, February 12th:
Let’s get to it:
Livingston vs St Mirren Betting Tips:
Livingston had a nice run of 4 games snapped as they lost 2-0 away to Ross County. They’ll look to get back in winning form against a St. Mirren team who struggle big time away.
St Mirren have actually turned the corner a bit lately. They have managed to rack up 3 draws in a row, and if you discount the Old Firm, they haven’t lost in their last 9 matches. Quite impressive when you think about it.
They will look to continue their run as they take on Livingston. Livingston still most likely have dreams of 3rd place as it isn’t too far out of their grasp.
I have been impressed with St. Mirren, however Livingston are an absolute beast at home. They have racked up wins and clean sheets in a lot of their games. Actually they have a home clean sheet record of 75%.
So it makes for an interesting bet knowing that defensive record. I’ve decided to go out on a bit of a limb for this one with some solid value on Livi to win to nil.

St Johnstone vs Motherwell Betting Tips:
St Johnstone have been playing some solid football lately. They’re 8th in the league and are coming off a solid 1-0 win over Aberdeen.
However they have another stiff competitor in Motherwell who will be desperate to get back on the winning track. A loss to Livingston was brutal as they then lost to Celtic following that.
They are however a solid team who are excellent away performers with 7 wins in 12 games. They’ll have the confidence in this one.
Motherwell are the better team. They have an excellent defensive record away and have recorded 42% clean sheets.
I think Motherwell can get an early lead in this one and protect it and also get some goals from the counter if necessary. They have the 4th best record in the league at scoring from counter attacks. I should note that St Johnstone actually have the 3rd best record in terms of xG conceded from counter attacks, so that may stifle that somewhat. Another one with a lot of value in my opinion.
