Group E in the World Cup wraps up on June 27th, the Wednesday. Switzerland go up against the already eliminated Costa Rica, and Brazil face Serbia.
Switzerland have been 2nd half specialists. In both their games – against Brazil and Serbia – they have went down 1-0 however came out the 2nd half strong. They’ve picked up a point against Brazil and a win against Serbia and go into this game strong. A win or a draw would guarantee their place in the next round. What’s really interesting there however is if they win and top the group, they’d most likely face Germany in the next round. So have to wonder if they’ll play for the draw.
Costa Rica are out and will feel hard done by. They had a hard fought game against a simply better Serbian side and lost, and looked like they had at least secured a point until injury time against Brazil.

Switzerland Analysis:
From a betting and performance perspective, Switzerland are fast becoming my team of the tournament. I bet them to score against Brazil (BTTS) and they did, and then I bet them to beat Serbia and they did as well.
I’m also loving their performances. Disappointing seeing them concede at times but I absolutely love the way they play and the way they pass the ball around.
Will be interesting seeing how they fare against Costa Rica and whether Costa Rica play defensively or have a go at it juts for the hell of it. Either way I fancy Switzerlands chances.
Costa Rica Analysis:
Costa Rica may feel hard done by but I’d say both Serbia and Brazil deserved to beat them – especially Brazil.
Bryan Ruiz has been solid for the team but overall they’re just not quite there at creating things in the final third.
It’ll be interesting seeing how they play in this one. Often we see eliminated teams just give up rather than play for pride and I get that – especially after the way they lost to Brazil. Has to kill their morale.
Switzerland vs Costa Rica Betting Tips:
Most of this depends on how bad the Swiss want to win the group – whether they would like to avoid Germany or not. They’re an excellent team and it’s probably their game to lose. I could see them playing for the draw but they have to be wary of a loss. I think the odds are nice enough as well that I’ll bet 3u on Switzerland to win.
