The Open Championship – not to be confused with the US Open – takes place from Thursday, July 20th through Sunday, July 23rd in 2017.
Known primarily as The Open, or the British Open in North America, this prestigious tournament is taking place this year at the Royal Birkdale Golf Club located in Southport, England.
9 previous Open Championships have been played at this course. The most recent one was back in 2008. That was a great one as Padraig Harrington defended his Open Championship title with a win as he slowly gained on the field and ended with a 69 on the final day.
This is a tough course based on the fact that when Harrington won he ended at +3. Back in 1998 Mark O’Meara and Brian Watts went to a playoff after ending at exactly par.
So I get the feeling we won’t be seeing anything close to Henrik Stenson and his -20 score from last year!
First of all if you’re looking to bet the Open Championship 2017 here’s where we recommend:

Out of the three, Dustin Johnson is the only one to actually win the Open Championship which was back in 2015.

And I’ll be hoping to follow that up, and my recent Majors history, by correctly predicting the Open Championship winner.
Current form seems to be the big factor in the Majors these years. No surprise really. However I’m going to be spending the next couple of weeks prior to the Open Championship looking at the previous tournaments here. It’s a very tough course and it’s going to be interesting to see what the main factors are.
