It was a big week for golf last week, but now things slow down a bit with the Travelers Championship.
We’ve also got the Olympics Golf coming up although a lot of the big names have pulled out of that. We’ll be looking into that next week and seeing if there is anything worth betting.
We came close to a nice little payout last week with Jason Day to win. The 9/1 Australian unfortunately couldn’t do the business as Walker played some nice safe golf to win it.
Let’s see what we have for the Travelers Championship this week:
Travelers Championship 2016 Betting Tips:
This week is a bit of a tricky week so I’m just going to take a full unit and then split it over four golfers to win and E/W. These golfers have stood out for me for various reasons.
The first up is Bubba Watson to win. Last year when tipping this tournament I said that Bubba was rightly the favourite however I couldn’t bet him at 12/1 odds. Well he won. He’s proven himself on this course time and time again and at 14/1 I feel it’s worth putting a small quarter unit bet on him to repeat. He’s not coming in with good form but regardless of form he usually masters this course.
A small quarter unit bet on Kevin Streelman who often does well on this course. His form has been interesting because I was watching him back in June when he came 8th at the Memorial, 16th at the US Open and 12th at the QuickLoans. I thought he was heating up and might come into this one on fire. He had poor showings at the Canadian Open and PGA Championship though so I’m not feeling confident. However I’ll still place a quarter unit bet on him to win and e/w.
This course is suited for someone like Webb Simpson and I’ll be betting him to win and E/W. He’s only had one good performance here which was 5th in 2013 but I mean he’s had some okay performances and he’s had some solid tournaments in the last 2 months including that 3rd place at the D&D.
Finally to win and E/W on Ryan Moore. He’s had some pretty poor showings as of late but he’s made his last 4 cuts and I think if he can get off to a good start here he’ll be a contender. Just needs a bit of that self belief back.
Champions Tour Betting Tips:
I haven’t really bet much on the Champions tour this season as I haven’t liked too much. However I like the 16/1 Kenny Perry to win and E/W due to his previous form and of course wins at the TPC Twin Cities course. I’m doing a quarter unit bet on Perry.
Also at 125/1 I feel Marco Dawson is worth a quarter unit bet.
