And also big thanks to Bubba Watson for not actually winning the event. He came 2nd by 1 stroke and boy was he unlucky. Scott had two double bogeys and had a lot of very lucky shots that got him the win.
However if Watson had won we would have been kicking ourselves for not betting him to win and E/W which was at 12/1. It was a very weird thing to watch – you’re cheering Bubba on the whole tournament, but then you start cheering for him to do good…but just not TOO good!
What a thrilling tournament it was though.
So this week we have the Valspar Championship and the True Thailand Classic. There’s no LPGA event this week OR Champions Tour event. The LPGA will return next week with the JTBC Founders Cup.
Let’s get to the tips:
Valspar Championship Betting Tips:
Jordan Spieth took this one down last year and he comes into this one as the favourite at 11/2 odds despite a few recent struggles in his form.
This is a very tricky course and one where the cream of the crop when it comes to golfers are the ones you’d expect to pick up the wins.
However there has been a few changes to the course which are going to make things a lot more interesting.
Unfortunately we are recommending no bets this week.
We’ve analyzed it and we’re just not happy with anything. We try and convince ourselves to back someone but just not happening. Nothing standing out.
True Thailand Classic Betting Tips:
Always an interesting tournament to watch – especially coming right after the WGC.
We’re going to go with 3 bets this week, all to win and E/W and it’s up to you how you want to split them up but we’d recommend quarter unit bets to be safe.
The first one is Prayad Marksaeng . He’s a previous winner here in 2014, has had some solid results lately and comes into this one on form. We think Marksaeng has what it takes to either win or stick around at the top at least.
We’re also on Scott Hend. Some weak form his last couple of tournaments but he looked solid in Dubai and has good course history here and the odds make him nice and juicy.
We’re also on one of the best golfers in Joost Luiten who is playing here for the first time. Always a contender no matter where he plays.
