UFC 199 is this weekend, and it promises to be an interesting show.
It’s a show that has been racked with issues of course. The biggest issue was Rockhold vs Weidman – the main event – being canceled just a few weeks ago due to Weidmans injury. Michael Bisping has stepped in at short notice even though Luke Rockhold destroyed him previously.
Bisping is coming off a controversial victory over Anderson Silva. While I personally think Bisping won that one – I think it was more because Silva didn’t go in for the kill like he should have.
B.J. Penn was going to fight but unfortunately many issues caused that one to be canceled.
It still should be a solid card though. Henderson fights are always fun, and the undertcard features the likes of Jessica Penne, Cole Miller and Clay Guida. I’m pretty pumped for it.
Let’s get to the betting tips:
UFC 199 Betting Tips:
Rockhold vs Bisping: Rockhold destroyed Bisping last time and he will most likely do it again this time. Even at a price of +600 I just cannot justify betting Bisping here. I would like nothing more in the world than for Bisping to win that one but I can’t. I’d stay away from this one altogether.
Faber vs Cruz: I think the only thing you can hope here is that Faber goes the distance. It’s very likely and Cruz will most likely dominate him here. It’s not a rubber match in the least – this one is surely going to be a nice victory by Dominick Cruz. Cruz has improved, Faber hasn’t. Cruz by Decision is -160 and I’m fine with that.
Henderson vs Lombard: I really shouldn’t be this excited for a fight featuring two old men – especially when one of them is Dan Henderson who I’ve exclaimed “he needs to retire” about 6 times in the last 2 years. However while Hendersons chin has gone, this could be a pretty good matchup for him. Coming off the juice, Lombard lost to Neil Magny. I think Henderson has velue at his +335 price. He still has that power. Personally I’ll be betting Fight Won’t Start Round 2 – basically a finish in the first round – at -140 odds.
Ortega vs Guida: I still love Clay Guida but oh man is he going to have a rough night against Brian Ortega. The 10-0 Ortega has dominated the likes of Diego Brandao and Thiago Tavares and I have to expect the same here. This is just not a good matchup for Clay, and I’m going to take Ortega to win by submission on this one.
Penne vs Andrade: Based on the betting odds this is one of the closest match-ups on the card. Andrade is coming down to straweight which will help her out. Honestly I think after her loss to Jedrzejcyzk it may take Penne a bit to get going here. Andrade is a finisher and I am going to take her for the win thinking she will either finish it or do enough in the first two rounds for a decision victory.
