This week in the UFC we have UFC Fight Night 169 featuring Joseph Benavidez versus Deiveson Figueiredo in the Flyweight division as the main event.
This event hails from the Charway Arena in Virginia, and isn’t exactly the card for most casual fans I expect.
Figueiredo weighed in at 127.5 which is pathetic. Absolutely unreal. He hasn’t missed weight in his career although I believe it’s always been close.
Honestly it wouldn’t surprise me if this is the end of the flyweight division. Cejudo saved it but if Figueredo wins tomorrow, the title is removed from Cejudo and will be vacant.
This honestly makes it a fight where the title isn’t just on the line – the entire division is ha.
Let’s see what betting tips we’ve got. It was a slight profit last week with my UFC Fight Night 168 Tips. Let’s keep it rolling.
UFC on ESPN+ 27 Betting Tips:
T.J Brown to win at +110. 1u.. This is a close fight here. Jordan Griffin hasn’t had any success in the UFC yet. He looked like a beast with four straight submissions too coming into UFC however lost against Dan Ige and Chas Skelly by unanimous decision. T.J. Brown steps into the UFC for the first time after his victory over Lockard in the contenders series.
This should be a fun fight with both guys going for it. I think Brown should be favourite here. He’s a better fighter from what I see and will be able to take this one.
Ion Cutelaba to win at +190 odds. 1u. An underdog play where I feel there is value.
Cutelaba man. Love the dude. He is completely mental and it’s awesome. He’s going to come out in this one looking to destroy like he does every other fight. It’s usually always win or lose with that dude. He just doesn’t care.
Magomed Akanalev is of course a very impressive fighter. He comes in on a 3 fight win streak after kicking the crap out of Lungiambula. Ankalaev is very solid as well but I don’t see him being able to handle the rush from Cutelaba. Standup wise I’d rank Cutelaba here and I also think Ankalaev will try and stand and bang early as opposed to going for a take down which would probably be better. Nice little underdog play in my opinion.
Joseph Benavidez to win. 2u at -140. A decent price here and I just think we see Joey grind it out. This one will likely go to a decision. Cardio and lack of takedown defense will be the problems for fatty. He also doesn’t have the experience that Benavidez does. He’s also excellent at striking. I like him to be aggressive all 25 minutes while fatty fades out in the championship rounds.
1u on Ismail Naurdiev to win. Bit of a surprising matchup here to see two guys who are promising fighters stuck right here on the card. This should be a fun fight. Brady is an all-round great fighter and Naurdiev is both an excellent wrestler and a great kickboxer. I think Ismail will be able to take this one even though Brady is a tough dude.
