The Super Bowl champions are in serious danger of not making the playoffs at 5-6. They host the Redskins tonight which is a nice match-up for them since Alex Smith went down with that brutal injury earlier this year. That said, the Eagles are 3-5 over their past eight games and they just don’t have that same magic of last year. This could be the deciding game of their season.
Before we get into today’s tips, let’s cover the big news of the weekend as the Green Bay Packers fired their head coach Mike McCarthy. He had a crazy run in Green Bay as he was basically hired because of his familiarity with Brett Favre back in the day. Favre didn’t want a coach that would change the offense from the West Coast offense he was used to under Mike Holmgren so they grabbed a QB coach who worked under Holmgren. Those Favre years ended and Aaron Rodgers came into the picture, and the two won a Super Bowl together.
Since then, it’s been downhill. McCarthy has made a ton of questionable moves over the years, but he’s always been bailed out by Rodgers’ genius. That ends now as the team fell to 4-7-1 and will most likely miss the playoffs. The clock is ticking on Aaron Rodgers career so the next hire will be crucial for this team.
NFL Betting Tips:
The Redskins have been one of the better against the spread teams in the NFL this year and I can see that continuing tonight. They have done a great job of running the ball this year and that has helped hide their deficiencies at quarterback since losing Smith.
Carson Wentz has been great this year, but the Eagles running game has been a big problem with injuries and under performances. I like the Eagles to win this game, but not by this margin. The Redskins should do a good job of establishing the run and stopping the run of Philly. That’ll keep this one close.
NBA Betting Tips:
The Golden State Warriors got Stephen Curry back from injury over the weekend. While that first game against Detroit was a loss, there were a lot of positive signs as Steph didn’t show much signs of rust. The team draws a much better match-up today as they face the Atlanta Hawks.
Atlanta is deep in a rebuild and Trae Young has not looked good. He has shown flashes, but he’s one of the worst defenders and three point shooters in the league. That is not what you’re looking for when facing Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. There will be no place to hide Young and I think the Warriors go off big in this one.
Speaking of the Pistons, they have looked pretty solid this season with a 13-7 record. Health has played a big factor and they draw a tough match-up against the Thunder today. OKC has had the best defense in the league thus far this season and I really like this match-up for them. I don’t see who can guard George or Westbrook here and I like the Thunder to grab the road win.
