This week, we have the 2015 WGC Cadillac Match Play.
Now we’ll say it straight up: this event is fun as all hell to watch, but as someone betting on the event – it really sucks. It’s very hard to come up with betting tips with so many variables in play.
On top of that – the structure has all changed. When it was the 1-64 seeds, and it was a straight knockout – that was excellent. Was very fun to watch and bet on, and a really cool fantasy type tournament.
Now however? Not so much. The lack of seeds is huge, as now it’s just random. It’s really lost the uniqueness of it.
What we’re going to do is go through each group for this, and see what betting tips we have for you for each group. That’s the best we can do. It’s up to you how much you want to bet on these – full unit is probably fine but if you’re conservative with your bankroll – maybe just do half units.
WGC Match Play Championship 2015 Betting Tip #1:
We’ll skip Group 1, and go right into Group 2. Our pal Jordan Spieth is in there with Lee Westwood, Matt Every and Mikko Ilonen. Spieth is the best form player in the world at the moment as you should know – and this is just tremendous value.
WGC Match Play Championship 2015 Betting Tip #2:
The next group that stands out to us is Group 3. This group features Henrik Stenson, Bill Haas, Brendon Todd and John Senden. We’ll be taking Henrik Stenson at 5/4 odds. Stenson has an excellent matchplay record, and is a MUCH stronger golfer than Brendon Todd or John Senden. The only concern should be Bill Haas, but we feel Stenson is worth the bet.
WGC Match Play Championship 2015 Betting Tip #3:
Group 5 stands out when it comes to value, with Martin Kaymer. The favourite in that group is Jim Furyk, and the other two who make it up are George Coetzee and Thongchai Jaidee. That’s just too high value for Kaymer, who brings it when it comes to the big tournament, is an excellent match player.
WGC Match Play Championship 2015 Betting Tip #4:
Dustin Johnson is next up. 6/5 in Group 8, which also has Victor Dubuisson, Charl Schwartzel and Matt Jones. This is Johnsons group to lose; he’s been on fire since his break. It’s a tough group for sure – but that’s where the value comes in for us.
WGC Match Play Championship 2015 Betting Tip #5:
Finally, we go all the way down to Group 14 and we’ll go with the favourite, Matt Kuchar. The biggest challenge in that group is Hunter Mahan, but Mahan really is not the same player he used to be and Kuchar should take this down.
