This week is the prestigious LPGA Championship, the 2nd of 5 majors within the LPGA Tour. This is a big one as it’s the first one that PGA of America are actually behind.
This is the 61st Womens PGA Championship, and this year the name for it is the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
It’s going to be a big win – this Par 72 takes place in New York at the Westchester Country Club. It boasts a $3.5 million prize fund, a whopping 156 players and should be a good one to watch.
Inbee Park comes into this as the favourite – she’s won the last two years and will be hoping to make it three times running. Next on the betting odds is Lydia Ko. Ko came 3rd last year and will be hoping to take down her first championship as she has the season of her life.
Let’s check out the betting odds before we get onto the betting tips:
LPGA Championship 2015 Betting Odds:
- Inbee Park: 13/2
- Lydia Ko: 17/2
- So Yeon Ryu: 12/1
- Hyo Joo Kim: 14/1
- Stacy Lewis: 14/1
- Shanshan Feng: 14/1
- Suzann Pettersen: 14/1
- Anna Nordqvist: 18/1
- Cristie Kerr: 28/1
- Minjee Lee: 35/1
Quite the tough field and a lot of very tight odds at the top. To see the Top 8 under 20/1? Wow. Let’s see what we can rustle up for the betting tips:
LPGA Championship Betting Tip #1: Lydia Ko
After a hot start to the season, Lydia Ko has really struggled. Her last 3 events have been very poor for her – with a 41st, 16th and 27th.
She’s young and it could just be the pressure – which isn’t good for a tournament like this. But we take everything else out and we fully believe Ko is the best golfer in the LPGA today.
She is struggling while Inbee Park is sticking strong – but we have faith in Ko. Not enough to go with a double unit bet – but enough to bet on her to win at the very pretty 17/2 odds.
LPGA Championship Betting Tip #2: Suzann Pettersen
In our one other tip we’re going to take the Norwegian Suzann Pettersen for an E/W bet.
14/1 is a nice price. She’s coming into this after playing some absolutely exceptional golf including a fantastic back 9 on the last round at the Manulife LPGA Classic. That win has given her a ton of new confidence. She’s someone who can play back to back great tournaments – we’ve seen it before. We’d also say that she is playing the best golf that she has played since 2013. That form last week was exceptional.
We’ll be backing her this week as well.
