June 18th, 2014 will see the first two games in Group B. The early game features Australia vs Holland.
The Netherlands got off to the best possible start as they absolutely destroyed Spain 5-1. That was an incredible game and an incredible result. Spain usually play with the high defensive line that pressures teams – but it didn’t work out well in this one, as Holland threw caution to the wind with their own high defensive line and it paid off in dividends.
That game could have worked out so differently however. Spain had a good few chances early on – but all people are going to be talking about is the result. Holland played a very risky game that worked here – but it’s the type of tactic where they could easily be on the other side of a 5-1 drubbing.
Australia looked solid against Chile in the latter half of the game. Chile dominated from the off, but Australia got back into it. Tim Cahill had 5 chances in total which was impressive – and it will be interesting to see how Holland approach this game, and if they will continue to push that defensive line high knowing the way Cahill sits right on the edge of them.
What’s also interesting is the amount of crosses Australia launched from deep – Cahill always causes issues and it’s a great tactic to have by just humping the ball into the penalty box over and over knowing he’s going to get on a couple of them.

No surprise there – Holland are completely unbettable at those odds.
It’s an interesting one because Holland are vastly overpriced. The betting market is going heavily on Holland due to their 5-1 victory. To me it’s went to heavy on the Netherlands that I’d almost recommend betting Australia to win. 15/1 is massive value for them.
It’s honestly one of those games where I would probably throw a small bet on the Aussies. I’ll expect it to lose more often than it would win – but the way Cahill gets up there, and the fact that Australia only need to get to the 25-30 yard line to thump the ball in makes it worthwhile looking at.
I’d probably go with Draw No Bet myself though – 12/1 odds on Australia at Draw No Bet. But this is where you bet just a small amount – like if you bet $100 each game, I’d be putting $10 on this.
I do like Over 2.5 goals though. 3/5 odds isn’t great but Holland have showed how good they are in attack, and Australia are surely good for a goal here. If the Dutch play with a high defensive line Cahill could expose them and even if they don’t – they can still lump in those crosses.

Both Teams to Score at 6/5 odds stands out for me right away. There were a lot of positives in the Australian attack and I can see them getting a goal.
A lot of people who like Holland will be going with Holland-Holland at Half-Time and Full-Time. I don’t hate that, but I think I’d prefer Holland to score in both halves. Odds of 4/5 on that.
