The “Group of Death” if you read the American Media, who actually think the USA have a chance within this group. Sorry guys – but you don’t.
Group G features two teams: Germany and Portugal. That’s it. Ghana and USA? Not a chance. Not a chance in hell.
Germany are one of the favourites to win the World Cup after they absolutely dominated the qualification stage. It was a tough group with the likes of Sweden, Austria and Republic of Ireland yet they made it look easy. Portugal however struggled, and it’s tricky for them as everything really does depend on Ronaldo. They have a great team – but when it comes down to it they lean on CR20 and are screwed without him.
Ghana got through after a dominant victory over Egypt. USA won 7 out of 10 games in the CONCACAF 4th round and to top the group and qualify directly for the World Cup. It wasn’t all easy streets for the States though.
Quick Summary: Actually very nice odds of Germany to win the group at 1/2 and we have to go with that. Portugal to qualify is 1/2 and I’d be getting on that as well. Both odds are nice.
Let’s check out the odds for this apparent “Group of Death” shall we?

World Cup 2014 Group G Betting Tips:
As I said – not exactly a group of death, at least not from the sportsbooks POV.
Germany should be your pick for one of the winners of the World Cup, and with 1/2 odds? That’s amazing. Teams like Brazil have 1/4 odds to win their group for example. 1/2 odds for the Germans to top the groups is a gift. Portugal are great with Ronaldo – but not without. And Germany are generally good at neutralizing that individual brilliance – as Messi found out a few years back.
Germany will be taking #1 in this.
Portugal are a solid team of course, and I expect them to easily beat USA and Ghana. I’d be looking at betting a forecast of Germany and Portugal in 1st/2nd for some decent odds.
The USA – they just don’t quite yet have the quality. Klinsmann made quite the big call to not include Landon Donovan in the team. I can get the reason he is doing that and he is hoping the current squad of players show up – but he has already proven to be poor with the USA and I think he just doesn’t have quite the grasp on how they will play.
He’s managed to get the defense back on track but that’s against weaker teams. Against teams like Germany and Portugal he will struggle. Hell even Ghana – they usually match up well with the USA and have some great players.
I see Ghana taking 3rd in this one if you want to add that to your forecast. USA bottom of group at 11/10 is a decent price too.
Quick Summary: Actually very nice odds of Germany to win the group at 1/2 and we have to go with that. Portugal to qualify is 1/2 and I’d be getting on that as well.
